2 Aims and Methodology 2.1 Aims 2.1.1The objective of this [nature of intervention/work] was to determine as far as reasonably possible the presence/absence, location, nature, extent, date, quality, condition and significance of any surviving archaeological deposits within the area.

2.1.2[add further details as appropriate}

2.2 Methodology 2.2.1Machine excavation was carried out under constant archaeological supervision with a wheeled JCB- type excavator using a toothless ditching bucket (if applicable). If not, how did you dig it, if you were excavating?

2.2.2Spoil, exposed surfaces and features were scanned with a metal detector. All metal-detected and hand-collected finds were retained for inspection, other than those which were obviously modern.

2.2.3All archaeological features and deposits were recorded using the group/Jigsaw Cambridgeshire/OAE's pro-forma sheets. Trench locations, plans and sections were recorded at appropriate scales and colour and monochrome photographs were taken of all relevant features and deposits.

2.2.4Provide details of any environmental sampling undertaken and/or relevant factors.

2.2.5Describe site conditions (wet/dry/raining etc.)
