Master Naturalists Host Free Eco-Movie, “What’s Organic About Organic?”, on February 28

The Florida Master Naturalists of Broward County invite anyone interested in natural resources and the environment to a free showing of the eco-movie “What’s Organic About Organic?” on Tuesday, February 28, at 6:30 p.m., at the Broward County Extension Education Auditorium, 3245 College Ave., Davie, FL 33314-7719. Anyone who is a Master Naturalist or is interested in the program or its projects is welcome to attend the group’s meeting, which will precede the movie at 6 p.m. The Master Naturalists meet the fourth Tuesday evening of every month and host “Eco-Movies” in collaboration with UF-IFAS Extension, Tanawhá Presents, the South Florida Audubon Society, and the Sawgrass Nature Center. Please note that Broward County Extension Education is located south of Nova Drive but north of 30th Street, on the western side of College Avenue.

The event is free and open to the public; donations of popcorn and other healthy treats are appreciated by all the moviegoers. The Master Naturalists are volunteers and natural resource management professionals who have been trained and certified by the University of Florida- IFAS/Broward County Parks and Recreation Division’s Extension Education Section training program, consisting of three core modules: Coastal Systems, Upland Habitats, and Freshwater Wetlands, along with four specialized courses that include Environmental Interpretation, Habitat Evaluation, Wildlife Monitoring, and Conservation Science. Volunteers and professionals graduating from the course receive national and state certification as part of the UF-IFAS Master Naturalist Program.

“What’s Organic About Organic?” won awards at the Florida Film Festival 2010, the Camden International Film Festival, the Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival, and the Magnolia Film Festival.
