December 6: OB/Peds/MSP/ICU Nursing, Physical/Occupational Therapy

Healthcare Explorers will meet on the following Wednesday afternoons from 1:45-3:20pm for activities in the departments listed below at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson. Healthcare Explorers is available for all area high school students and is affiliated with Boy Scouts. Applications are attached and also available at the hospital information desk, area high schools or by email from me. The cost is $28 payable to Post 9052 and requires a parent signature for students under age 18.

January 31: Surgery/Anesthesia, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy

March 14: ER/Air ambulance, X-ray, Lab

Job shadowing December 26-28 will be available in selected departments at CHI St. Alexius Health. I’ve attached the requirements for job shadowing and the Boy Scout Explorer Post application. Please contact me with any questions.

Radiology 8-11am

ER (minimum grade 11; age 16) 1-4pm

ER (minimum grade 11; age 16) 4-7pm

Lab 8-11am

Surgery & Anesthesia (minimum grade 11; age 16) 7-11am Call 456-4450 day before to confirm there is surgery.

Respiratory Care 8-11am

Respiratory Care 1-4 pm

OB 7-11am

OB 1-4 pm

Med/Surg/ICU Nursing 7-11am

Hospitalist PA/Physician 8-11am

Occupational Therapy 8-11am

Occupational Therapy 1-3pm Physical Therapy 8-11am

Physical Therapy 1-3pm

We are planning a trip to UND School of Medicine and possibly NDSU in the spring at an additional cost and each student will be credited for the $5 events they have attended. Participation is required for at least 1 event at the hospital or to be enrolled in a Health Careers course through RACTC to be eligible for the trip.
