A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone. With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul. WHEREAS, Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone was born on August 23, 1976, a native son of the Commonwealth and a resident of Bevinsville, Kentucky, and traversed these earthly bounds on January 6, 2006; and WHEREAS, Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone proudly worked as a coal miner for Kentucky May Coal Company; and WHEREAS, Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone graduated from South Floyd High School; and WHEREAS, Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone was the devoted and loving husband of Melissa Thornsbury Slone; and WHEREAS, Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone was the proud and loving father of Aleigha Nicole Slone and Rayleah Kaylynn Slone and the stepfather of Anthony Thornsbury; and WHEREAS, Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone was the beloved son of Vernon and Debra Osborne Slone; and WHEREAS, the passing of Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone, and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy. Section 2. The Senate recognizes that Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone was deeply

loved and respected by family and friends and that he will be truly mourned. Section 3. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Vernon Chad "Hawk" Slone. Section 4. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Ms. Melissa Slone, Box 292, Melvin, Kentucky 41650.
