Westhill Tennis Club Committee Meeting Minutes 24 May 2012

Present: John Wallace; Henry Lints; Margaret Stevenson; Susan McIntyre; Lui Forno. Apologies: John Purcell; Nora Pirie.

1. Chairman’s Report: The tennis courts are now locked; members have been e-mailed the combination and members of the public can access a key through the swimming pool. There is also a booking book for the courts. John Wallace has been requesting the final invoice from Hunter Construction; a decision has been made not to order new posts. 2. No matters arising from previous committee meeting. 3. Secretary’s Report: There are 19 senior members; 8 junior members; 5 mini members. Some problems have been reported about opening the padlock but these have hopefully been dealt with. The American tournament at the beginning of the season went well but unfortunately no previous members took part. 4. Treasurer’s Report: Balances: Current Account £3305.11; Deposit Account £1221.35. Denman Pavilion upkeep invoice £420; the club is now due to pay £180 to clear costs for last season. Future costs will be approximately £550 per annum. The club still has £800 from Awards For All: this is due to be spent on gate strengthening. Invoice of £420 to DPPMC for tables and chairs. 5. Men’s Teams: played 5, won 4 and drawn 1. The team has been able to fulfil all fixtures. John Purcell to check that all team members have joined the club. 6. Ladies’ teams: A team have played 4; B team have played 2; 1 draw; 1 defeat. Two matches have been postponed due to difficulty in getting ladies’ team. John Wallace to check with Michelle Paterson that all ladies playing in A team are members. 7. The club has entered the social league which should take place later in the season. 8. Junior Coaching: no report. 9. Social Events: a barbeque/American tournament will be held on Saturday 23 June; from 1pm for juniors, cost £3; from 2.30pm for adults, cost £5. 10. Proposed Changes to NESLTA rules: Susan McIntyre to go to NESLTA meeting on 18 June. All league players must be club members and BT members. Rules are being revised for the leagues, particularly the men’s leagues. John Wallace read through the options and Susan McIntyre noted the committee’s decisions. 11. AOCB: Alfie Warrender is upgrading the club’s website. In future the committee meeting minutes will be available on the website.
