Young 10 Document Path: l:\council\bills\rm\1083zw09.docx 11 12 Introduced in the House on February 10, 2009 13 Adopted by the House on February 10, 2009 14 15 Summary: Mike Rose 16 17 18 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 19 20 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 21 2/10/2009 House Introduced and adopted HJ2 22 23 24 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 25 26 2/10/2009 27 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO CONGRATULATE MIKE ROSE, AIKEN COUNTY PLANT 12 MANAGER OF BRIDGESTONE FIRESTONE NORTH 13 AMERICAN TIRE, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS 14 RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR THIRTYSEVEN 15 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE WITH THE COMPANY, 16 AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR MUCH HAPPINESS 17 AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS. 18 19 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 20 Representatives are grateful for the vision and leadership that Mike 21 Rose, retiring Aiken County plant manager of Bridgestone 22 Firestone North American Tire, has shown in helping to build his 23 company to the high level of excellence it has achieved at the 24 Aiken plant, both in manufacturing tires and in contributing 25 worthily to the betterment of the surrounding community; and 26 27 Whereas, embarking on his career with Bridgestone Americas Tire 28 Operations at the company’s LaVergne, Tennessee, plant in 1972, 29 Mr. Rose, a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College, began 30 in production and assumed roles of increasing responsibility in the 31 areas of final inspection, process engineering, and stock 32 preparation; and 33 34 Whereas, under his watch as manager of the company’s Aiken 35 County plant, a position to which he was named in 2003, the plant 36 was hailed among Industry Week’s Top Ten Plants in North 37 America and honored as South Carolina Chamber of Commerce 38 Manufacturer of the Year, Large Employer Category; and 39 40 Whereas, in further testimony to the plant’s outstanding work 41 under Mike Rose’s leadership, the plant also received the Greater 42 Good Award, the South Carolina Silver Crescent Award, the South

[3465] 2 1 Carolina Chamber Safety Excellence Award, the South Carolina 2 Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Alliance’s Crystal Flame Award, and the 3 National Philanthropic Association (Augusta Chapter) Outstanding 4 Corporation Award; and 5 6 Whereas, because he believes in committed involvement with his 7 community, Mike Rose plays a key role in several Aiken 8 organizations, among them the boards of Aiken Regional Medical 9 Center, Aiken County Commission for Technical & 10 Comprehensive Education, Aiken Partnership University of South 11 Carolina Aiken, and the Silver Crescent Foundation; and 12 13 Whereas, as part of his wellearned retirement, the House of 14 Representatives hopes Mike Rose will find that his increased 15 leisure hours enable him to build the boat he has been constructing 16 in his mind for some time; and 17 18 Whereas, pleased to hear that he and his wife, Pam, plan to retire 19 in the Aiken area, the House of Representatives honors Mike Rose 20 for the high standards of integrity and proficiency that have always 21 been the hallmarks of his service, and the members assure him that 22 he will be remembered with affection and gratitude by colleagues 23 and legislative friends for years to come. Now, therefore, 24 25 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 26 27 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 28 by this resolution, congratulate Mike Rose, Aiken County plant 29 manager of Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, upon the 30 occasion of his retirement, commend him for thirtyseven years of 31 dedicated service with the company, and extend best wishes for 32 much happiness and fulfillment in all his future endeavors. 33 34 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 35 Mike Rose. 36 XX 37
