Job Title: National Endurance Co-Ordinator

Job Title: National Endurance Co-ordinator Reports To: Head of Coaching and Performance Location: National Indoor Athletics Centre, Cardiff Business Unit: Coaching and Performance Working Hours: 3 days per week / 24 hours per week (flexible) with some evening and weekend work required Budget Responsibility: TBC Overall Purpose: To be the strategic and operational lead for endurance disciplines in Wales. To lead on the development of endurance coaches and athletes in Wales, across all of the endurance disciplines.

Strategic Responsibilities: 1. Create and implement a National Endurance Strategy for Athletics in Wales

2. Support the overall development of endurance coaching in Wales, including the recruitment of coaches into the event area and the up-skilling of coaches to the highest level possible

3. Coordinate the competition programme across all endurance disciplines in Wales. Specifically, to implement a consistent policy to all international matches and overseas international fixtures

4. To work closely with the Athletics Network team to ensure that clubs in Wales are serviced with appropriate opportunities

5. To establish a development pathway specific to off track endurance in Wales

6. To improve the communication pathways between Welsh Athletics and its members (athletes/coaches/officials/volunteers)

Operational Responsibilities; 1. Organise and deliver the Welsh Athletics’ National Endurance Programme

2. In collaboration with the Track Coach Development Manager, develop and deliver a coach support system suitable to the needs of coaches in Wales, including the provision of local and national coach CPD opportunities

3. Be the main point of contact for all endurance coaches in Wales and ensure a regular, open and two-way communication process is in place

4. Be a member of the selection panel for the Welsh Athletics athlete support programmes (CWG and WAA) and all Welsh Athletics endurance fixtures

5. Monitor, review and support the work of all designated CWG and WAA coach-athlete pairs 6. To liaise with all off track committees to ensure good communication levels between the various departments within Welsh Athletics and the volunteer workforce

7. Deliver on any other delegated tasks from the Head of Coaching and Performance

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

Experience

Essential:

 Demonstrate a thorough understanding of off-track endurance disciplines

 Have a clear understanding of the principles of endurance coaching

 Have a clear understanding of the underlying principles in the development of international athletes

Desirable:

 Previous organisational leadership

 Previous involvement with international teams

Specific Skills

Essential:

 The ability to communicate effectively with key stake-holders in professional sport

 The ability to work effectively as part of a performance focussed team

 Have the ability to work quickly and effectively as an individual and deliver to deadlines

 Demonstrable customer service skills of the highest level

Desirable:

 Proven coaching delivery at the highest level  Welsh Speaking

Education/Qualifications

Desirable:

 UKA coaching qualification or equivalent with current DBS check, or the ability to achieve this in an agreed timeframe

 Relevant degree level qualification

 Fully competent with Windows, Word, Excel

Salary:

£25k - £32k per annum, pro-rata, depending on experience and skill-set.
