You MUST present on your topic that you choose from. Your presentations about 20-30 mins of your topic.

The expectations are for students to discuss new ways to help cope or deal with that disease/topic. I expect a person to talk about the problem of this disease/topic, why it is important to learn about this disease/topic, how many people that this disease/topic effects in the USA/worldwide and discuss new ways to help cope or deal with that topic. You are more than welcome to use pictures from Google or any other resources. Just make sure NOT to make the presentation too busy, easy to read (color and text size) and easy for the audience to follow. Example: If my topic was asthma:  Talk about the problem (Ex: There is concern with its prevalence and the health care costs that are increasing every year regardless of the education provided to patients and medical advancements.) o Why there is a problem (could be numerous examples or just one, but talk about them briefly)  How many people have this disease/topic discussion (ex: Over 20 million people have this disease and 7 million of them are children, EPA, 2010).  Why is there a problem with your disease/topic (why is there an increase, how does it come about, cost of this disease, and other relevant information)  Why it is important to know about this disease/topic (why should people/public know about this and why it is/could be relevant to them)  Give examples (asthma is like breathing through a straw) or show class real-world examples or demonstrations. You can use youtube or any other source of media, but don’t make it your most of your presentation. Make your PowerPoint stand out and get a wow factor  What is used to help manage this disease/topic o What new medical advancements/treatments are available or new studies that they maybe trying to help out your disease/topic. . This is where you look up news stories or medical stories about this topic and give some ideas of what helps or can help and explain what that means.  Where can you get help for this disease/topic (think of local resources in your community) o Don’t just look for websites for help o Look locally for people in the community Grading scale
