Minute Re: Germantown Monthly Meeting and Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley in Germantown

Germantown Monthly Meeting’s Ad Hoc Committee regarding the relationship between Germantown Monthly Meeting and Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley invited Quaker members of the Stapeley community to share with us what they see as Quaker needs at Stapeley. A dozen Quaker residents met with the Committee.

Germantown Monthly Meeting, based on the Committee’s recommendation and hearing the requests and concerns of Quaker residents at Wesley Enhanced Living, approves the following Minute.

Germantown Monthly Meeting:

1. Plans to hold events like films and speakers at Stapeley so that residents, who express a hunger for substantive discussions, can easily participate. 2. Will plan a potluck supper twice a year at Stapeley at 5 PM on the first Sunday of the month for Quaker residents before they attend the monthly meeting for worship at 6:30 PM. We expect that Friends participating in the potluck would also attend meeting for worship; a desire for more Friends to be part of this meeting was the first request articulated by Stapeley's Quaker residents. 3. Will forward this minute to the Quarter with the request that other meetings join us in these two activities. There are seven meetings in the quarter. If every meeting agreed to sponsor two potlucks (and Unity and Frankford combined for this purpose), Friends could sponsor a potluck every month. 4. Will request the Quarter to include Stapeley in the rotation of PQM locations so Stapeley residents can participate.
