Their second mistake is that they try to make verse 10 to read as the root of all sin or sins creating a straw man that they can knock down by objecting that certain sins are not a result of money. Their humanistic mind set will not allow them to realize that the verse is not talking about sin or sins; it is talking about harm or injury. Even God is said to create evil but not sin (Isa. 45:7). Therefore, for Bible Correctors to force rape and homosexuality and murder into the verse is to make a dishonest objection. Their third mistake is that they do not see the full meaning in the expression. A love of money which some Bibles have even translated as avarice or Greed (German Bible - GEIZ), or covetousness (Tyndale, Rheims, Great Bible), puts the kind of love of money into a different perspective. The RV and ASV give us all kinds of evils that have no basis in the Greek. Even the RSV, YLT, and Rheims bibles do not go that far but do use the plural form of evil, which does not detract from the KJB’s style in transposing of singulars and plurals (sin, sins, and etc.) The Greek Words G5365 philarguria From G5366; avarice: - love of money.
