General Membership Meeting Minutes Wednesday, October 16, 2013 – 11:30 AM Moorestown Community House

Call to Order: President Mark Morgan (Moorestown Theater Company) called the meeting to order at 11:30 am. MBA members introduced themselves.

Membership Report: Membership Chair, Brian Cooper, reported that renewal notices for 2014 memberships, will be sent out shortly. Fees for Moorestown members will be $135 and $160 for out of town members. Membership fee includes being listed in the 2014 directory, of which 9,000 copies are mailed to Moorestown homes and businesses.

Sponsor “Commercial”: Two businesses sponsored today’s lunch. They include Charles A. McCullough, CPA, LLC (Charles A. McCullough) and Moorestown Theater Company (Mark Morgan). They each spoke for three minutes about their business.

“Education Corner” Speaker: There was no speaker for this meeting.

Guest Speakers: Three guest speakers attended this month’s luncheon. Moorestown Mayor Hon. Stacey Jordan who spoke on the importance of Moorestown businesses; Burlington County Chamber President Kristi Howell who spoke about the “Shop Burlington First” program, and Lt. Governor & Secretary of State Kim Guadagno who spoke about New Jersey’s business climate. She gave her cell phone number to the MBA members.

By-Laws Committee Update: Committee Chair Don Powell announced some changes with the MBA by-laws. One major change is that the person in the position of vice president for 2014 will automatically become the next MBA President in 2015. Other by-law changes are available on the MBA website.

Nominating Committee: Committee Chair Don Powell also said that there will be four available positions on the Board of Directors in 2014. There will be three three-year terms and one two-year term available. Anyone interested in running for a Board position is asked to contact Don Powell. Names must be submitted by the November meeting so that candidates can be placed on the ballot for the vote at the December meeting. Important Upcoming Dates / Events: 1. Fri., 11.1 – 6 PM to 9 PM – 37th Annual Candlelight Night – Main Street from Church Street & Chester Avenue 2. Thu., 11.7 – 5:30 Pm to 7:30 PM – MBA Happy Hour – Bidwell Chiropractic, 212 W. Route 38, Suite 100 3. The next General Membership Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 20, at 7:30 a.m.

A motion to approve the September 18, 2013 General Membership minutes was made by Randy Abidin and seconded by Dennis Marks.

The minutes were unanimously approved.

A motion was made by Don McAllister to adjourn the meeting at 1:15 p.m.
