Formulation Preparation: In a glass beaker, at room temperature under constant mechanical agitation, mix all the ingredients in Compositions A and B – mascara or foundation.

Measure the viscosities at time t=3 minutes of the compositions A and B. Viscosities can be measured with a Brookfield, model LVDV, with a 3 spindle, at a speed of 60 rev/min and at approximately 25oC. The results are combined in the following table:

Thus, the anhydrous composition A, for the same level of pigment, is much more fluid than the composition B. The composition A exhibits a more homogeneous texture than the composition B. The pigments are better dispersed in the composition A according to the invention than in the composition B.

Laboratory Needs:

Formulation: Pyrex glass beakers, heat insulated gloves, safety goggles, pH indicator paper or probe, spatulas, storage jars, aluminum foil and untreated virgin hair tresses.

Laboratory Equipment: A mechanical agitator with support and fastener, mixing blades to fit inside the diameter of the glass beaker, thermometer and hot plate with temperature control, top load balance with auto calibration and tare and a viscometer.
