Kindergarten Information

Kindergarten Information General:

Classroom doors open at 7:50 and school begins at 8:00. Students who arrive between 7:30 and 7:50 must go to the cafeteria where supervision and free breakfast are available each morning.

Dismissal is at 2:20. Should there be a change in your child’s dismissal plan it must arrive in writing in order for the change to be allowed. This is very important!

School information and completed work will go home with your child each Friday in their folder. Please review the contents and return the empty folder each Monday. Newsletters and Websites:

Manatee Elementary sends a monthly newsletter to your e-mail address. In addition, our class has a website page: http://www.manatee.brevard.k12.fl.us/Teacher Web/Teeter.Susan/ Snack Time:

Each student has a daily responsibility to bring their own HEALTHY snack. Please label and pack the item separately at it will be placed in our snack basket each morning. We will eat our snacks around 9:40 after we return from our activity time. Non-refrigerated, healthy snacks only! Activity Time:

Kindergarten activity schedule is on a rotation 8:55-9:35. For the first school semester our rotation will be as follows: Mondays and Fridays we will go to PE, Tuesdays-Music, Wednesdays-Art, Thursdays-Media . Your child must wear sneakers each day as a result of Law House Bill 967 which requires 150 minutes of PE per week. Teachers will be providing the additional required minutes throughout the week. Also, please send a large, labeled shirt to be worn over your child’s clothing to Art activity. This shirt will be stored in your child’s cubby. Lunch Time:

12:06-12:38 If possible please have your child bring lunch for the first few weeks. This is very helpful allowing your child time to become comfortable with the new cafeteria experience. When it comes time for your child to buy lunch please facilitate the process by paying for lunches in advance at www.mealpayplus.com using the pin number given to you at registration on an index card. Homework:

Kindergarten homework is designed to review and reinforce new concepts and to involve parents in the education team. Math review units, nightly reading, and fun projects will be assigned as homework. Toys:

Not allowed unless specifically stated on our website for a special occasion. Volunteers:

It is vital that you register with our school’s Apple Corp Volunteer Program if you wish to volunteer for fieldtrips or any classroom activities. For the protection of your child and all others every volunteer must submit an application and be approved by the Brevard County Schools before volunteering. No exceptions! Applications are available in the front office and please be aware that the process may take four to six weeks. Therefore, it is recommended that you begin the process as soon as possible. PTO:

Please consider joining the Manatee PTO. Membership is $3 per family. They provide tremendous support to our students and faculty! Ms. Susan Teeter Kindergarten/ESE Teacher 433-0050 X 5302 [email protected]
