Corporate Compliance Program Alvarado Parkway Institute/Behavioral Health System (API/BHS) is dedicated to conducting business honestly and ethically. In order to live up to this commitment, API/BHS has set forth principles and rules in the Corporate Compliance Program, which is to be followed by all employees and other individuals who work with API/BHS. On hire and annually, you will be ask to acknowledge your understanding of these principles and rules.

Confidentiality All employees must respect and safeguard the confidentiality and privacy of staff members, patients and behavioral health system business. API/BHS has implemented certain measures and mechanisms aimed at protecting confidential and sensitive information related to the organization, employees and patients. All employees are required to sign a statement of confidentiality as a condition of employment.

Drug Free Workplace API/BHS prohibits the use, sale, dispensing or possession of illegal drugs and narcotics. The same prohibition exists concerning the consumption of alcoholic beverages on the behavioral health system's premises. In the case of illegal drugs and narcotics, this policy also specifically includes off-premises use, possession or sale. For the purpose of maintaining the quality, efficiency, and professionalism of service to its patients and customers, all behavioral health system employees may be required to submit to alcohol/drug screening. A supervisor may request a drug test when there is "reasonable suspicion" an employee is impaired or incapable of performing assigned duties. The system also may require random testing of its employees if it deems necessary.

Ethics All persons who work in the organization share in the responsibility of observing a code of ethics which requires, in general, the welfare of the patient to be the employees’ prime concern. This code of ethics requires truthfulness, honesty and personal integrity.

Harassment Harassment, sexual or otherwise, is prohibited in the workplace and in work activities. It is considered a serious violation of standards of conduct and ethical behavior. Employees should report any violations to the Director of Human Resources or Corporate Compliance representative as soon as possible.

Licensure, Certification, and Registration Individuals whose position requires licensure, registration or certification must maintain such as current and valid. It is the employee’s responsibility to send updated copies to Human Resources before the expiration date.

Patient Abuse Or Neglect Inappropriate staff behavior and any form of neglect or abuse whether physical, mental, or verbal will not be tolerated. In addition, personal relationships, becoming affectionately and emotionally involved with a current or former patient, is strictly prohibited and will result in termination of your employment.
