Remember to come and hang out at the South Area Meeting, September 9-10, to be held at the outstanding - GalleryONE, a Doubletree Suite Hotel, right on the Intracoastal Waterway, directly adjacent to The Galleria Mall, and just a few short blocks to Fort Lauderdale Beach. MINUTES – August 2, 2011 Business Meeting
The meeting was called to order by President Carole at 7:10 pm with the invocation by Ellie Conway and the pledge to the flag. After dinner the meeting was called to order by Vice President, Carol Zeber, due to President Carole having to depart for the airport. Guests Carol Brant and Evelyn Zuback were introduced.
The minutes of the July meeting were approved as published. Secretary, Anamarie, reported that a letter was sent to the Rotary Club thanking them for their generous donation. Treasurer, Dolores, read the report with an ending balance of $78,202.92. There being no questions the report will be filed for audit.
Jackie Rule, Ways and Means Chair, read a letter from International commending our club for our fifty-third successful fashion show. A motion was made and seconded that a plant be sent to Bill Jaycox, who is recuperating from an operation. The motion carried.
Service Chair, Carol Zeber asked sub-chairs to report on their activities. It was reported that a thank you letter was received from HOMES for the picnic tables. It was suggested and discussed that we donate a swing set to them this year. This will be discussed later. HOMES will be starting a thrift shop which will help the young people learn business skills. Shepherd's Way provided a list of items that would be useful to their families. Twenty back packs will be given to God's Little Lambs; the Peeps will help stuff the packs. Instead of donating shoe boxes with toiletries to Providence Place we will be working with HOPE South Florida to donate some standard gift items, perhaps buckets of cleaning supplies to the families. A committee was formed to coordinate this project.
Marie Katz, Membership Chair installed three new members, Victoria Mallow, Nan Mercer and Denise Naylor. Each received their membership pin and a red rose.

They are requesting children's books for the hearing impaired children and donations for the silent auction. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 pm.

Barb is baking. Carole Hart has candles and gift tags to bring. Anamarie has new luggage to donate. Carol Zeber has Quota ink pens. We will be selling the Peeps pop-top belts and bracelets for them. In addition, our Club Raffle will be a Beach Basket. Carole Hart has been filling the basket with 2 beach towels, 2 pair of flip flops, sunscreen, lip balm, CD of relaxation songs, colorful tumbler glasses, Frisbee, sand bucket/shovel and an inflatable beach ball. Carol Zeber is donating a bottle of wine. We could use any other small, “beach-fun” items as fillers. In addition, we are also seeking donations for the Q.I. Silent Auction. To help Sheila with this fundraiser, please bring donations to our Sept. 6th Business Meeting. A re-gift, jewelry, china, crystal, etc. donation is appreciated. Barbara Duncan donated a Book Basket. Since Sheila and her team are beginning to write up the Bid Sheets in anticipation of the Silent Auction, please advise Sheila immediately of any donation you will be bringing. “PEEPS” The Peeps of our Jr. Quota Club took 80 beautiful stuffed animals which were their own treasurers when they were this age. Each was placed in a gift bag so the children felt they were receiving a very special gift. After the children (pictured above) placed their animals in their “cubbies,” the Peeps read their favorite stories to them from their own toddler books. The girls were busy this month helping Fort Lauderdale Quotarians with their annual backpack www.orgsites.com/fl/quotafortlauderdale Page 5 of 7 program for God’s Little Lambs, also preparing annual back to school cards for the deaf children at Tamarac Elementary School and the migrant children at Markham Elementary School.

Fort Lauderdale Quotarians partnered with the Rotary Club of Fort Lauderdale Beach and the Jr. Quota Club “Peeps” this year.
