COURSE OBJECTIVE: Participants will be able to recognize and develop an understanding of common North American place names, regional patterns and topical issues. This will be accomplished through class discussions, hands-on activities and class readings.

EXAMINATIONS AND GRADING: Grades will be based on points earned.

Grades are based on: A=92% B=87% C=78% D=70% (Grades may be adjusted depending on class average)

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS -You are expected to attend each class. -IF YOU MISS MORE THAN TWO CLASSES, DO NOT EXPECT TO PASS THE COURSE -Materials not in your text are presented each week. -Review the weekly activities and printouts on the web site -Student access for materials: geo-site.net -You need to print out exercise questions for the week from the web site. -You need to print out video questions for the week from the web site. -Video Journal / Internet assignments are due one week after assigned (before class starts) -In class exercises are due that day and internet portions are due one week after assigned. -Exercises or Quizzes turned in or taken late will earn fewer points. -If a snow day is declared, any quiz scheduled will be given on the next class meeting. Any quiz scheduled after a class missed due to a snow day will still be given on the date scheduled. -Students absent for good cause will be able to turn in assignments or take quizzes late. Good cause is evaluated on an individual basis by the instructor. Notify me in advance by e-mail. -My e-mail is listed under faculty on the college home page…use it.
