Position Summary

The Business Development Rep is primarily responsible for promoting the sale of products, supplies, or services that require engineering knowledge to make decisions. The successful candidate will participate in defining and executing the Red Valve international sales strategy and initiatives. The successful candidate will champion the company's sales programs, including the development of short- and long-term sales objectives, strategies and ensures their execution. This role will be responsible for developing processes to maintain positive Voice of Customer feedback to ensure customer loyalty. Additionally, you will evaluate and implement appropriate new sales techniques to increase the department's sales volume. The successful candidate will provide management with information used to evaluate inside sales opportunities and recommend product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential. Additionally, you will be responsible for forecasting and providing quotes (product specs & costs) for new projects and products. The successful candidate will gather details and compile data to estimate all production and engineering costs based on customer specifications. This candidate will work closely with our Reps and End User customers to clarify spec requirements, Engineering to solidify proper design to price and Manufacturing to determine production & purchasing requirements. You will need to consider items like: raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, and transportation for estimations. Additionally you will assist in determining necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate the desire and ability to identify business needs, areas of improvement and objectives through research and data backed decision-making that will empower them to make recommendations on appropriate business initiatives. Based in Carnegie, PA, this position will report to the Red Valve International Sales Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

 Develop and implement internal sales processes and procedures.

 Manage the company’s relationships with partners and formulate marketing activities and policies for promoting companies' products.

 Act as key contact for customers by answering questions about products, technical solutions, prices, availability, applications, and credit terms.

 Review current market conditions including our competition that may affect the Red Valve’s ability to sell our products and services in the marketplace.

 Prepare sales proposals/other order documentation

 Analyze costs to determine profitability of orders received based on quoted prices.

 Based on Voice of the customer (VOC), support customer expectations and possible solution implementation.

 Become an expert on our product offerings as well as a practical understanding of our competitor’s products.

 Monitor all international business transactions and anticipate any problems.

 Generate leads for sales and marketing staff and provide recommendations for improvements for achieving global business goals.

 Interact with current and potential clients regarding commercial and legal terms of agreements in addition to being capable of discussing technical issues

 Additional duties may include making calls, gathering information about potential international clients, generating leads and writing reports.

 Will work on sales quoting and follow-up activities as needed, including maintaining accurate records in our software systems

 Participate in Kaizen events.

 Perform other duties as required for the success of the department and business

Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Business or Sales related curriculum.

Skills/Experience

 Positive attitude

 Demonstrate a high level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, commitments and professionalism.

 5+ years of sales, estimating/quoting, customer service, inside sales, strategy, or other related business experience

 Previous valve sales, or technical sales experience is preferred

 International business experience/exposure is highly desirable

 A proven track record in strong presentation skills

 Have strong research and strategic analysis skills.

 Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and be able to call potential clients from different cultures and backgrounds with confidence.

 Need to be skilled at negotiating and closing deals.

 Excellent organizational skills are essential as well as performance monitoring

 Able to perform and properly communicate with a multi-cultural - professional team.

 Proven experience working under sales goal targets and exceeding expectations.

 Bilingual is highly desirable (Ability to speak Chinese Mandarin, Japanese, or other Asia-Pacific language, Spanish)

 Excellent time management, communication (verbal and written), Customer service, and interpersonal skills.

 Technical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing processes

 High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access)

 Must be a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

 Flexibility to adapt to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities, and unpredictable events within a fast-paced manufacturing environment

 Ability to adapt to unfamiliar processes and situations with minimal review/supervision

Travel

Employee must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
