There is a critical shortage of qualified AMSA licensed compass adjusters in Australia to meet the demand required by the Navigation Act and the various State legislations. Marine Order Part 21 has been revised. To become an AMSA Licensed Compass Adjuster you are required to meet section 14.4.2 of Marine Order Part 21. You are not required to hold any maritime qualifications.

14.4.2 If the Manager, Ship Operations and Qualifications, is satisfied that a person who has made application under 14.4.1: (a) Has successfully completed a course, approved by the Manager, Ship Operations and Qualifications, on adjustment of compasses; and (b) Has assisted in adjusting the compasses of at least 12 ships during the previous three years, The Manager, Ship Operations and Qualifications, is to issue that person with a Licence as Compass Adjuster. The course meets sub section (a) of 14.4.1 of Marine Order Part 21.
