Microbiological study of the effects of porous Tantalum on human bone, with a focus on the osteoporotic female. 2006 Foot & Ankle Research Michael Aronow, MD. Anatomic description of the FHB insertion onto the hallucal proximal phalanx and biomechanical study of serial proximal phalangeal bone resection on FHB insertional integrity. 2001-2006 Orthopaedic Residency Research Dr. Gloria Gronowics, Ph.D. In vitro analysis of the effects of engineered silk on human osteoblast adhesion, proliferations, and mineralization. We are also elucidating the intracellular signaling pathway responsible for these cell responses. 2003-2004 Pediatric Orthopaedic Research - CCMC Dr. Brian Smith, M.D. Elucidation of the association of BMI and degree of curve correction in children undergoing scoliosis surgery with the development of Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome post-operatively. 2000 Medical Student Research in Orthopaedics Dr. Ed Tillett, M.D., Department of Orthopaedics, University of Louisville School of Medicine. Simulated arthroscopic conditions of the shoulder and fluoroscopically evaluated the relative position of the axillary nerve to the inferior margin of the joint capsule through a range of arm motions. June-Aug 1998 Summer Research Fellow Dr. Susan Galandiuk, M.D., Price Institute of Surgical Research, University of Louisville School of Medicine. Worked on identifying a microsatellite marker around the MSH2 gene associated with Dysplastic Ulcerative Colitis. 1995-1997 Graduate Student Kevin Jarrell, Ph.D., Department of Pharmacology, Boston University School of Medicine. Engineered a ribozyme consisting of a group II intron to generate a circular human exon by the process of inverse splicing. 1994-1995 Research Associate Procter & Gamble Company, Corporate Research Division. Worked on organic synthesis of a novel anti-arthritic drug, and a prodrug technology to enhance bioavailability. 1992-1994 Independent Research J. B. Lambert, Ph.D., Claire-Hamilton-Hall Professor of Chemistry, Northwestern University. Made use of a specialized NMR sequence to find structural evidence for hyperconjugation- or the sharing of p and s orbital electron density- in the neutral ground state of compounds.
