Personal History Timeline s1

Mrs. Hill Social Studies 8 Date and Time due: ______Personal History Timeline

How do the important milestones of your life coincide with recent events in the history of the United States? You are to choose four significant events in your life and parallel it with noteworthy and significant happenings in history through the creation of your personal history timeline. Directions: 1. Starting with first grade through the seventh grade, choose four memorable events in your life that were especially significant for you. Make a list of the years of your life below. You will then look up important events in our nation’s history that happened during the same time period. You must have one event in both the personal event column and the national event column. The essential skill in this assignment is that you choose a truly notable and significant event for our country during this time. Refer to your journal and your study notes for the definitions of significance and relevance and the criteria you should use to decide if you’ve chosen a significant event. 2. You will be creating a Google slides project in Google Classroom that will include both text and images that represent your four memorable experiences as well as brief descriptions/explanations and graphics of national events that correspond with those years. Be sure to include the exact date that the national event occurred. 3. Each timeline must begin with a title slide that includes both your title of the project and your complete MLA. Remember that the due date is the date you use for your MLA. 4. You will be presenting your timeline to the class, so be sure to practice your information to make sure that you are familiar with all the language & names. 5. Grading notes: for an A on this project you must rewrite events into your own words, and explain why the event was significant, however you may copy/paste events for a C, but you must cite the web address that you copied from, otherwise it’s the equivalent of plagiarism and you will receive an F.
