Scholastic Book Fairs PA Scripts: To the Book Fair and Beyond! Audio Only
PRE-FAIR Script: Student A: We interrupt your school day with this special news report! Student B: This is the President from the White House. Student A: No, it’s not… it’s actually [insert Student B’s name] from [insert Student B’s homeroom teacher’s name] classroom and me, [insert Student A’s Name], and we’ve just discovered proof of intelligent life on other planets.
Student B: One of our teachers confessed to being an alien? I knew it! Student A: No aliens. But some advanced civilization has transformed [insert Book Fair location] to a place where you can find every book ever written.
Student B: Every book? Student A: Well…All of the really good ones. Adventures. Mysteries. Sports books. Funny books. Scary books. Whatever you love to read, you’ll find it there. Awesome pens and posters, too.
Student B: Genius. The aliens have disguised their invasion as a Scholastic Book Fair to lure us all in.
Student A: Their master plan for world domination is scheduled for [insert Book Fair date/times]. Make plans to go to the Scholastic Book Fair. We’ll be there!
Student B: So to sum it all up: Reading is out of this world…This reporter is out of his mind…and we’re outta here.

PRE-FAIR Script: Student A is talking with Student B, who is wearing a tin foil hat. Student A: Nice hat. Student B: I make it work. Student A: I heard you’re an exchange student?
Student B: I’m visiting [insert school name] from a galaxy far, far … to the left of this one.
Student A: Uh huh. And what do you do for fun on your planet?
Student B: We visit strange worlds and explore new life forms, using these. (S/he holds up a book)
Student A: That’s a book. We have those here, too. In fact, we have LOTS of those here. There is a Book Fair coming [insert date and time].
Student B: What are the coordinates?
Student A: You can go to the Scholastic Book Fair by visiting [insert location].
Student B: Will they have mysteries?
Student A: Absolutely.
Student B: Adventure stories? Sports stories?
Student A: Plenty.
Student B: School supplies? Posters? Flux capacitors?
Student A: Yes, yes and I don’t know.
Student B: Could you find out about the flux capacitors?
Student A: Why don’t you go see for yourself? The Scholastic Book Fair runs [insert date and time] at [insert location].
Student B: You’ll go with me?
Student A: If you lose the hat.
Student B: Then where will I keep my popcorn? Humans … so un-evolved!

DURING FAIR Script (Before last Day):
Student A: So, I heard you plan to go into space as a tourist? Student B: I’ve already started saving for my big vacation. Student A: Aren’t those tickets millions of dollars? Student B: Yep. Plus, I’m putting aside a little extra to stock up on books. I like to read on long trips. You don’t get motion sickness in zero gravity, do you?
Student A: You could probably find a book that would tell you. Lucky for you we have a Book Fair going on with lots of choices that won’t break your intergalactic travel budget.
Student B: I have a big wish list … mysteries, adventure stories, humor, and science, of course.
Student A: Our Scholastic Book Fair has all that. Some of my favorite writers have new books out. And I got some awesome school supplies and posters, too.
Student B: I should check it out. I calculate I only have about 10,950 shopping days until liftoff. Plus, my sister’s birthday is next month…
Student A: Well, you only have until [insert date/time] to get over to [insert location].
Student B: To the Book Fair and Beyond! I like the sound of that.

DURING FAIR Script (Before last Day):
Two-shot of students
Student A: Where have you been?
Student B: To the Scholastic Book Fair! We need a really out-of-this-world reminder so nobody misses out. I’ve been working on a draft.
Student A: Let me hear it. Student B: I can show it to you. (Text begins to scroll on screen as student reads voice-over) A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… Student A: That’s kind of wordy …And the Book Fair is going on right now, at [insert location] until [insert date].
(Text begins to scroll on screen as student reads voice-over) Student B: It is a period of civil war. Student A: The Fair is open [insert times] … so that’s closer to like, fifth period? (Text begins to scroll on screen as student reads voice-over) Student B: Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base… (Hand crumples up the paper, back to a two-shot of the students) Student A: We get it. Stolen plans. Death Star. Princess with weird hair. I don’t think any of that is really getting the point across.
Student B: We need to get people excited. This is the best Book Fair in the galaxy. Student A: So we tell them that our Scholastic Book Fair has the books they love … Plus lots of new favorites. And cool school supplies and posters.
Student B: We could try that. Student A: There is no Try – Only Do. Student B: To the Book Fair and Beyond! Get there before an armored station with enough power to destroy an entire planet strikes.
Student A: Or [insert date]. Whichever comes first.
