EDUARD BUSS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION 2004-2005

Highland Community College offers a number of scholarships for forensics. The following information outlines the basic qualification guidelines. Exceptions to the qualifications may be made by the Director of Forensics in consultation with the Dean of Humanities and the Highland Community College Foundation.

Requirements:

1. A 2.50 GPA for all work in high school, at colleges and universities other than Highland Community College and at Highland Community College (must be maintained)

2. Full time student at Highland Community College, participating in forensics full time

3. Character and maturity that will be complementary to Highland Community College and to the HCC Forensics Team

4. Priority will be given to those students who have (or are willing) to compete in more than one of the following: public speaking, interpretation, and debate

Please attach to this application a statement of purpose explaining why you want to join the forensics team, what you hope to get from the experience and how the team will benefit from your presence on the team. Also use this statement to show how you meet the scholarship guidelines, or to make any argument you wish for the waiver of particular requirements.

Applicants for the Buss scholarship must also do one of the following: 1. provide a letter of recommendation from a former forensics coach 2. (if you have no prior experience) arrange an interview with the director of forensics at Highland

A copy of your most current transcripts (high school, college or GED) MUST be attached with your application and ACT Test Scores (if applicable). Transcripts do not have to be official.

You must also include one letter of recommendation from a high school instructor, if you are new to Highland, or one letter of recommendation from a Highland staff member.
