Dear Family & Friends s1

November 13, 2008

Dear Family & Friends,

I am now writing my last newsletter from South Africa … it is with many mixed feelings. On one hand I can’t wait to get home to see my two precious grandchildren Conner and Ella, but, at the same time, I have a heavy heart leaving these South African children behind. I have been spending the last two weeks tying up loose ends and saying my goodbyes. The children from the After School Program have been drawing me pictures and writing notes for me to take home. When I read them, I cry. I can’t imagine what I will be like when I read them over and over again at home. I will share some of them with you.

“Hello Maureen I write this letter because you are special to me God will bless you for everything I will miss you If you dead I will always love you grand morine I will remember you for everything that you make You help a lot of people and many schools go well You are special in our love Good bye bye!!! i don’t like you go please don’t go please don’t go!!! From Lindokuhle – Grade 6”

“To Maureen For love very much I write this card to thank you for things you have done for me I love you Thank you very much Enjoy your days You like a mother to me Thank you I love you From Nomzama – Grade 6”

“Hallow! I like to say I love you Wish I had a Mom like you You are so wonderful I love you Good by From Noxole – Grade 5 Special thanks to Lisa from the Piggy Wiggly, (a local supermarket from my hometown) the children loved the balloons, coloring papers, rulers and pencils … check out the picture of Barb and me with the children.

Bob, the children loved the cars you sent … you gave many children their first toy!

Carol, wish you were here to see the kids at the After School Program use the sports equipment you purchased for them …we told them it was in memory of your grand daughter Katie that died at 13 years old.

Visited Phila and said goodbye until next year, I am happy to report he is remaining healthy and looks great. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

The Community Garden is planted … wish I was here to see it grow…. This garden will feed many needy orphans and families from the After School Program.

Glad to report I visited the old Gogos and men Sewing Group … they are putting the two sewing machines (non electric) to good use (thank you Chuck & Dennis)… these are the ones you purchased last year. They are making pillows and selling them to make money to feed the orphans they are caring for. This is the same group that we gave scissors and material to…. They had been using a knife to cut the material. An older man was all excited showing me the glasses that we gave him last year and telling me he is now able to read his Zulu Bible.

I will continue the Our Journey newsletters when I return home; they will be quarterly and not monthly until I return to South Africa next year. In the meantime, check out our website; we will be posting a review of this year’s best pictures. God is so good! www.ourjourneyinc.org

Much love, Maureen HOW YOU CAN HELP
