Issaquah Valley Elementary PTA General Meeting December 1, 2016 @ 7 p.m. Call to Order at 7:05 pm Quorum present

Special Guest - Gayle Morgan, Transportation  350 routes, 130 bus drivers, 160 buses

 20,000 students in district

 PBSES training for bus drivers

 Need 20 more bus drivers to accommodate the new bell times

 Changes to bus routes to make them more efficient

 Drivers count students every day in am and pm

 Kindergarten release forms are being updated, photos taken at Kindergarten Roundup and forms sent before school starts.

 Discipline is progressive, emails are sent to parents with Principle cc’d. Buses all have video cameras.

Secretary’s Report –Lauren Schaer  Approve Minutes from September 2016

Motion made to approve minutes by Kim Pike, seconded by Patty Dillon. Hearing no discussion, all ayes, no nays and no abstentions. The ayes have it.

President’s Report – Carla Geraci  Updates

o PTA Grants – Library grant approved (New books for library). Next deadline is January 31st.

o Substitutes Needed – Anyone with Bachelor’s Degree can get an emergency substitute license.

 Upcoming Events

o Multi-Cultural Fair Chair – February 10

o Gardening Program – Need co-chair to train for next year, contact Patty Dillion

o Bingo Night – March 3

o Engineering Night – April 21 (Combining with STEM this year)

o Variety Show – May 12 Issaquah Valley Elementary PTA General Meeting December 1, 2016 @ 7 p.m. o Ice Cream Social – June 9

o Field Day – June 13 (First time as PTA event)

o Auction 2017-2018 (March 24, 2018 at Embassy Suites in Bellevue – Lights, Camera, Action!)

Program Reports  Popcorn – New chairs ready to train for next year

 Membership – We are at about 60%, doing an email push and booth at parent/teacher conference. Goal is 100%. We currently have 33 scholarship memberships paid for.

ISF – Need new liaison for next year

Motion made to accept nominations for nominating committee by Chelle Swim, second by Angie Warren. Hearing no discussion, all ayes, no nays and no abstentions. The ayes have it.

Treasurer’s Report – Christine White and Brooke Sullivan  Increase of Art Budget for 2016-2017 ($940.00 to pay for an overage from last year).

Lego club looking into different times to accommodate more children
