Main Speaker: Beth Lynch

Beth faithfully and energetically serves at Catawba Springs Christian Church in Apex, NC after serving on The Wilds staff for over thirty years with her music director husband, Mac. Mac and Beth are a gifted team and are known for sharing and producing God-honoring music through their piano and vocal talents. Beth has a heart for God and others. This love for God and others, coupled with her humor and her Biblical and practical outlook on life and its experiences, has given Beth many ministry opportunities both here and abroad.

Mac and Beth have 2 grown sons and wonderful daughter-in-laws. Their 2 grandchildren have been such a great joy and delight.

Beth will speak three times throughout the retreat. Her sessions are as follows:

Getting Grace from God: What do you do when you don’t feel you are able to handle all that life throws at you?

Every Wise Woman Buildeth Her House: Where are you going? What’s the road that you’re on right now? Where will this road take your “house”?

Flapping or Soaring: What’s a Woman to Do? Most birds fly by flapping their wings, but not eagles. They are built for soaring, not flapping. That allows them to travel much further on less energy. Hmmm….

Mac and Beth Lynch will be ministering in music throughout the retreat.

Workshop Speakers and Topics

Speaker: Gen Schmidt – Gen grew up in a pastor’s home and has served alongside her husband, Ernie, as pastor’s wife (and often administrative assistant) in six churches. She has served in various roles in three Bible colleges. She currently serves as administrative assistant to her husband at Faith Baptist Bible College & Theological Seminary. She has two married children and six grandchildren. Topic: “Refreshing Your Ministry” – How do you get beyond the routine in ministry? We will share principles from God’s Word to take us from weariness to WOW. This workshop is for anyone who serves in any area in the church.

Speaker: Heather Brower – Heather was born and raised in Wisconsin but moved to Owatonna, MN in 2002 with her husband, Steve. They have four children, ranging from ages 7- 11, and currently reside in St. Francis, MN where her husband has been pastoring at First Baptist Church for 7 years now. She counts it a privilege and joy to be part of the ministry! Topic: “Renewing Your Talk” – God used a workshop at the MBA ladies retreat about ten years ago to burden my heart for a mom’s ministry. Last year the mom’s group at our church went through a book called Everyday Talk by John Younts. God used this book and His Word to convince me that Luke 6:45 is true! “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Our talk…our words…our tone…are a demonstration of what is in our heart – they are directly connected. What do you talk about? How much is God a part of your everyday conversations? May our hearts ring true with Psalm 19:14: “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.”

Speaker: Loretta Schofield – At about 7 years of age, Loretta was led to the Lord by her father, a full-time minister of the gospel. 1 John 5:13 would later assure her of God’s salvation in her life. She was later baptized by immersion. The blessing of being reared in a godly Christian home prepared her for future ministry. She met her husband, John, at PBBC and serves as wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker along with ministering to women within and without the church. Bible college training provided her with the tools for teaching, counseling, ministering in music and serving as an interpreter for the deaf. Life’s Verses: Colossians 1:9-11; Psalm 28:7. Marriage Verse: Colossians 1:18b Topic: “Refreshing Your Contentment” – A preacher once said “Content or Discontent: Which tent do you live in?” We sing, “Jesus is all the world to me – my life, my joy, my all.” Really? In her book Idols of the Heart: Learning to Long for God Alone”, Elyse Fitzpatrick states, “…Our sanctification is a process…(this) involves learning,…growing, falling, changing, becoming convinced again of the truth and developing holiness over our lifetime.” The Apostle Paul says,”…I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” What does God say?

Speaker: Kim Morrell – Kim is grateful to have grown up in a Christian home where she heard the gospel as a child and put her faith in Jesus Christ. After attending Northland Baptist Bible College and earning a degree in Elementary Education, Kim married Matt Morrell. God has blessed them with five children. Matt and Kim now serve at Fourth Baptist Church and Central Seminary where Matt is the pastor. Kim enjoys ministering to women and children alongside of her husband. Topic: “Renewing Your Bible Study” – Have you ever felt overwhelmed, discouraged or maybe just in a rut when it comes to studying the Bible? In this workshop we will work through Colossians 3:12-14, which presents the characteristics of the new man in Christ. As we study this passage I will give you some suggestions and introduce you to some tools to help you dig deeper into God’s Word and renew your quiet time with the Lord. Speaker: Cindy Grotzke – Cindy has been at First Baptist Church, Brainerd, for 24 ½ years. She is the mother of 5 and grandmother of 8. She loves to plan and then activate those plans. Topic: “Renewing Your Impact” – This workshop will challenge all of us to step out of our comfort zone and to use a variety of ways to impact the lives of others for Christ. Come and find possibly some new ways to serve and then to act on those challenges.

Speaker: Colleen Kovach – Colleen and her husband of 31 years live on 5 ½ acres in rural Clearwater, MN. I attend Northland Bible Baptist Church in nearby St. Cloud. Having home- schooled 5 of our now grown children forced me to acquire many organizational skills and to make the best use of my space. Although I have had no professional training in decorating or design, I enjoy finding, then creating new, yet simple ways to refresh my home each season. Because I have decorated in my church for most special events (including our monthly Sunday Dinner) for over 15 years, I find it a constant challenge to keep things fresh, creative, interesting and inexpensive! I always see God bless my creative efforts when I close my purse and use and reuse what I already have. Topic: “Refreshing Your Home” – Discover new, fresh spaces in your home by spending little and using the treasures you already have! Create a home that tells all who enter you love God and love each other; a place of comfort and beauty!

Speaker: Mac Lynch – (Mac) Lynch was born in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He is a graduate of Bob Jones University where he has earned degrees in the field of music. After receiving his degree, Mac traveled with The Wilds Evangelistic Team for three years before marrying Beth in 1982. In 1988 the Lynches became part of the music staff of the Wilds. Mac served as the Music Director of the Wilds Christian Camp and Conference Center for over 30 years. In 2012, the Lord directed them to join the staff of Catawba Springs Christian Church where he serves as Music Pastor. Having ministered in churches around the world, Mac is very sensitive to the needs facing today's Christian. His work in producing music for the local church reflects his desire to see the Lord Jesus Christ exalted through Christ-honoring music. His goal is to be a blessing and encouragement to believers as he ministers through testimony and song. Topic: “Refreshing Your Music” – Join us as we pull apart Colossians 3:16 and study, expositionally, the music God designed for private worship, and then in turn to affect our public worship. 2015 MBA Ladies Retreat – Registration Form
