RPL Series

The Ringball Premier League (RPL) Series will take place in Gauteng during February – April 2015.

Six ladies and six men’s teams will be allowed to enter the competition with teams consisting of 12 players each. Teams will mainly consist of players form the Gauteng districts although a limited number of players from neighbouring districts will be allowed to take part. Teams will be allowed a maximum number of 2 players per team from players residing outside Gauteng.

Players must be at least 17 years of age and not older than 45 years and don’t need to be registered previously with any district. No current registration with any district is necessary as registration will only be due as from June. Players who have been suspended for what ever reason will not be allowed to enter.

Officials who are interested in becoming a team owner must apply on the prescribed form before the 28th January 2015. The application must include the proposed team name and colours of the team.

Team owners will have the opportunity to bid and buy players for his/her team during an auction that will take place on the 6th February 2015. During the auction team owners will be allowed to buy 11 players of his/her choice with the final player of colour allocated to each team. A minimum starting bid will be placed on players according to their RingballSA rating (category) which will be based on the 2014 performance of each player.

Each approved team owner will be allocated 3500Ringers to buy the players needed.

Minimum starting bid per category

Category 1 - 300 (2014 SA players)

Category 2 - 200 (2014 SA Invitation players)

Category 2 - 100 (all other players)

Players interested must apply on the prescribed application form before 31 January 2015 where after the organizing committee will select the 66 men and woman from the applications. These players will be informed not later than 2nd February regarding their application. Players selected and team owners must make themselves available for the time period of the auction as from 18h00 – 19h00 on the 6th February, which will take place at the Johannesburg stadium.

The RPL series will take place on 4 Saturdays afternoon’s as from 13h00 – 20h00 at 4 different venues in Gauteng. Team entries will be R1200-00/team.

Price money for the winning team in each category will be R5000 and the runner up R2000.

Matches will be played according to the standard Ringball rules with minor variations which will include a green card, power play’s where teams can earn more goal points as well as time outs. An additional referee will also form part of each match to assist with illegal play as well as a timekeeper responsible for time outs, green and yellow card times etc.

1 The format of the competition will be based on pool matches whereby 3 teams will be grouped together to play initial pool matches per Saturday where after teams will played across pools to decide the winner of the specific day.

Pool A Pool B

1 vs 1 (winner will be nr 1 for the day and loser nr 2)

2 vs 2 (winner will be nr 3 for the day and loser nr 4)

3 vs 3 (winner will be nr 5 for the day and loser nr 6)

Pools for following Saturday

Pool A - Nr 1, 3, 5

Pool B - Nr 2, 4, 6

Teams will be divided into pools after each Saturday which means that teams will not necessary play the same teams again the following Saturday.

Teams will earn points according to their rating after each Saturday as follows

1 – 50

2 – 45

3 – 41

4 – 38

5 – 36

6 – 35

The team (ladies and men) with the highest number of points at the end of the series will be the winner as no finals will be played.

More details will be supplied in due time.

2 RPL Series

1. Will be played in Gauteng at 4 different venues (Kempton, Warriors, Pretoria, Sedibeng)

2. Requires 4 Saturdays in February and March 2015 (4 Staurdays and no final).

3. Matches will consist of 2 x 15 minute halves with a 2 minute rest and 1 minute team manager time. Finals will have 20 minute halves, 2 minutes rest and 1 minute team manager time.

4. Any interested player and team manger may take part – players that sign up will be evaluated by the RPL organisation committee and informed whether they will be allowed to participate. The committee has the right to deny participation in the competition.

5. 66 men and 66 women will be allowed to enter.

6. Only 6 teams per group (males and females).

7. Every team consists of 12 players.

8. No new players may be bought into teams after teams have been finalised.

9. Each team has a team manager/coach and an owner. This role may be played by the same person. The owner must ensure sufficient sponsorship for clothing.

10. Teams must have a mascot/ pom pom girls to contribute to the vibe.

11. No registration with any district/province is required to participate in the competition.

12. Each team may buy a maximum of 2 players from outside the province.

13. Players must be between 17 and 45 years of age to take part in the competition.

14. Each team owner receives a maximum of 3500 Ringers with which players must be bought.

15. Players are divided into categories: SA players 2014 (green), SA invitation/presidential players 2014 (yellow) and non-SA players (blue).

16. Minimum cost for players: 300 Ringers for green, 200 Ringers for yellow and 100 Ringers for all other players.

17. All players will be auctioned on one evening (6 February 2015).

18. Entry fees for teams is R1200 per team (including team manager).

19. Team names and uniforms must be approved before the competition.

20. All players must be involved on level 1 and 2 as players and/or team manager/referee.

21. Prize money: R5000 for winning team and R2000 for runners up.

3 Rules

1. Green card: a penalty given against a player will be noted. A second penalty against the same player will earn that player a green card and a 2 minute rest on a green chair next to the court.

2. If, after the return of the player, he/she gets penalised again the player will be given a yellow card and 5 minutes rest on a yellow chair. Any following penalties will be given a red card. The player will then be off the court on a red chair for the remainder of the match.

3. All chairs will be placed 2 metres outside the court right oppposite the middle circle.

4. A direct red card will result in a disqualification for the next match without a hearing.

5. 2 red cards in different matches will also lead to a disqualification for the next match without a hearing.

6. Powerplay – lasts for 5 minutes. It is called by the team winning the coin toss.

7. Each team manager has the right to call a 1 minute timeout to discuss tactic with players.

8. Each team is entitled to one powerplay per game. Teams are not allowed to have a power play at the same time.

9. During a powerplay all goals scored will be worth double points.

10. Impact players: teams must make at least 1 change per game – only during the breaks.

11. 2 Referees per game – main referee in charge of the game and an assistant referee that indicates foul play and controls the number of cards.

12. An independant timekeeper will be used. The timekeeper will stop the time when indicated by the referee and will also control the time off the court of players with green and yellow cards.

13. Matches are not allowed to run longer than 35 minutes.

4 14. Players must play with numbers.

15. Teams must complete the coin toss before the game so that all matches start on time.

16. Spectators entry fee - R10 per person at each venue. This money will be used as the prize money for the competition.

17. 2 courts and 2 pavilions are required at each venue.

18. Matches will only be played on Saturday afternoons between 13:00 – 20:00.

19. The six teams will be divided into pools on the first day by means of a draw. On the following Saturday, teams will be placed in pools according to their standing on the log from the previous Saturday.

20. Teams will be divided into 2 pools of 3 teams each. All three teams will play against eachother.

21. The team ending in position 1 in pool one will play against the number 1 of pool 2 on the same day. The same will be done for positions 2 and 3 in both pools.

22. The winner of the match between the two number 1 positions of pool one and two, will take the number one slot on the log. The loser of this match will be number 2 on the log. The winner and loser of the match between the number 2 positions of pool one and two will be allocated to number 3 and 4 on the log respectively. The winner and loser of the match between the number 3 positions of pool one and two will be allocated to number 5 and 6 on the log respectively. The teams will then be divided into pools for the next Saturday according to these standings. It will be done as follows:

24. Points will be awarded to each team according to their standing on the log at the end of each Saturday:

Number 1 – 50 points

Number 2 – 45 points

Number 3 – 41 points

5 Number 4 – 38 points

Number 5 – 36 points

Number 6 – 35 points

25. No final will be played. The team with the most points at the end of the 4 Saturdays will be the winner of the competition.

26. Referees will be provided by Ringball SA.

27. In the event of a sponsorship being obtained, the prize money may be increased.

28. The RPL logo should be on all shirts
