Graduate Assembly Golf Cart Procedures
Category Important Info Reservations To make a reservation, contact the GA Internal VP at [email protected] You must have a confirmed reservation before using the golf cart You must watch the golf cart video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39fkY_Q3kJQ) and complete and sign the GA Golf Cart Consent Form before operating the golf cart. Consent forms are only valid for the academic year in which they were signed Driving the golf cart is a privilege and can be revoked at the discretion of the GA or if any of these policies are violated
Driver Requirements Must be 18 years old or older (passengers must also be 18 years or older) Must have a valid driver’s license Must be a UC Berkeley student, employee, or faculty member Must have filled out Consent Form and have completed the in-person training
Operating Guidelines Always use the golf cart in a responsible manner Obey speed limits and traffic rules Never use headphones, cellphones, or other devices while operating the golf cart Do not pass other vehicles (unless they are parked) All riders must be properly seated, with arms and legs inside the cart and with seat belts buckled Riders may not sit or stand in cargo area Yield to the right of way of pedestrians and bikers All items must be properly secured to the cart before operation When driving any vehicle at night, in low light, or in raining weather, the golf cart lights must be on at all times Use extra caution when driving at night Anthony Hall • MC #4500 • University of California, Berkeley • Berkeley, California 94720-4500

Page 1 Whenever possible on campus, use routes designed for vehicular traffic Do not drive on Upper Sproul Plaza. Upper Sproul is defined as Sather Gate and extends to the Bancroft/Telegraph intersection. Upper Sproul is for emergency traffic ONLY.
Prior to Driving Visually inspect interior and exterior of golf cart for damage. If damage is found, please report to the GA Business Office or Internal VP immediately Remove all trash and debris Ensure the cart is unplugged and free from obstructions Check the headlights and break lights Check the battery gauge to ensure the cart is at least ¼ charged Inspect the tires for proper inflation and excessive wear
While Operating/Driving Unplug the golf cart Place foot on brake, insert key into ignition, and turn key to start The parking brake is located to the right of the driver, directly below the center of the seat To release parking brake: With foot on brake, grasp parking brake and push button to release brake, and lower completely towards the floor To engage parking brake: come to a complete stop and pull up on parking brake until it is fully engaged Drive a short distance and make a controlled stop to ensure brakes are working properly Come to a complete stop anytime you are changing from forward to reverse, and vice versa When parking the golf cart, make sure to engage the parking brake, set the supplied Club on steering wheel, and take the key with you Never leave the golf cart unattended with the key in the ignition
Returning Golf Cart to Park where instructed Anthony Hall Set parking brake, turn off golf cart, lights and windshield wipers Remove the key, set supplied Club on steering wheel and return to the GA Plug in the vehicle for charging
2 Inspect and clean the cart, removing all trash Report all incidences, maintenance issues, or accidents to the GA Business Office or Internal VP, even if they are minor. Failure to do so will mean loss of golf cart privileges for driver and his/her office If the golf cart is not returned by the end of the reserved time, the individual will be charged a late fee
Safety If someone gets hurt or you have an accident dial 911 (campus phone, dial 9-911) First aid kits are available in the GA conference room supply cabinet Fire extinguisher is located next to the front door at the GA
Phone and Emergency For emergencies, first dial 911 (campus phone, dial Contacts 9-911) For non-emergency assistance, call the GA Business Office at 642-2175
By signing here, I agree that I have reviewed the above policies and will abide by them. Any failure to do abide by these policies gives the GA the right to revoke my driving privilege (and the driving privileges of my organization), and to charge me for damages.
