Application Packet A completed application packet must include the following:

1. Application.

2. Written Essay: Students must submit a 1,000-word essay on Ibn Khaldun and his contribution to Sociology.

3. Letters of Recommendation: Request two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from a faculty member in the Department of Sociology. The second letter can be from a faculty member in any other department. Each letter must be written on official stationary (if applicable), addressed to the Department of Sociology – Scholarship Committee, and sealed in an envelope with an original signature.

4. Transcripts: Provide transcript of record from each college or university attended. Copies of official transcripts are acceptable, as are unofficial transcripts that are downloaded from the Internet. Please note, however, that Internet-generated transcripts must include the student’s name in the printed document. To insure confidentiality of your personal information, please remove or obliterate your Social Security number if it appears on your transcript(s) and provide your Sac State ID number.

Deadline The deadline to submit an application is May 10, 2013. Selection of up to (1, 2, 3, etc) winning applicants will be made by the end of each Spring semester – award disbursements will be awarded at the beginning of the following Fall semester.
