PART TWO Vacation Bible School is June 21 – 25. That is less than three weeks away and we still need teachers. If you have never taught before, this would be a great opportunity to try your hand at it. The lessons are very easy. The materials lay it all out for you step by step so preparation is very easy and quick. And Vacation Bible School is fun. This year’s topic may sound a little strange: BAOBAB BLAST, but it is an adventure into Africa. The setting is under a special tree that grows out on the Savannah: the Baobab Tree, where all kinds of animals congregate. (I’ve not been there yet, but from pictures I have seen down in Disney World, they have a theme park built around such a tree). As a VBS teacher you will have a unique opportunity to take an active part in a child’s faith formation. This year’s VBS also comes connected to an ELCA mission project: Africa Jam which is a youth empowerment organization that celebrates community by welcoming kids of all different backgrounds. The Africa Jam program provides educational support, builds self-esteem, and communicates the gospel to kids in South Africa. VBS participants will be actively involved in supporting kids their own age in Africa because all donations go directly to supporting kids and the Africa Jam mission.
