10/14/14 Updates:

The health equity section was updated to include that the maps can be used to identify gaps in public spaces.

Activity 1. In progress. The timeline was extended to January 2015. The Parks & Rec. Department plans to meet with County HHSA Health Statistics Unit to identify playspaces that are already being mapped. Parks & Rec will also discuss with the County any additional playspaces they would like to see mapped.

Activity 2. The timeline was extended to April 2015. The domain would like a static playspaces map with symbols that identify the types of playspaces (e.g.,playground, skate park, trail) and/or playspace amenities. The domain is interested in the development of a user-friendly, interactive map where users can find more detailed information about each playspace; additional funding would need to be sought if the group was to pursue an interactive map. The domain will also investigate the possibility of integrating the playspaces map with the community domain’s community engagement map.

Activity 3: The timeline was extended to October 2015.

Activity 4: In progress. The timeline was changed to October 2015. The County Parks & Rec. has developed active design guidelines (e.g., safety, amenities) for building new parks and evaluating existing parks. The County Parks & Rec. Department is currently using the guidelines to assess existing parks. The guidelines were also presented at the CA Parks & Rec Society State Conference as a best practice. The County HHSA Live Well teams are also conducting assessments. The domain would like to engage community engagement projects (e.g., RLA, BBH, YEAH!) in future assessments.

Activity 4: The timeline remains at December 2015.
