Half day Seminar Port construction and dredging in the marine environment: an update
Friday 15th October 2010, 2:00pm to 5:00pm
Institution of Civil Engineers, One Great George Street, Westminster, London SW1P 3AA
Recent months have seen many changes in how marine environmental issues associated with port construction and dredging are addressed, and more are forthcoming. At the same time, much progress has been made in respect of associated research, modelling, and developing/applying new methodologies.
This free, half-day seminar will provide delegates with an important opportunity to get up- to-date with progress in the marine environment. Speakers from a variety of organisations will share their experiences on topics including: - practical issues associated with the new marine licensing regime - ensuring that marine dredging and disposal comply with the Water Framework Directive using the new Environment Agency guidance - understanding best practice for dredging and port construction around coral reefs as described in forthcoming PIANC guidance - an update on developments in ecological modelling for marine environmental management - using observed data to understand water injection dredging sediment plume dispersion and its application to harbour dredging.
Each presentation will be followed by a short discussion session, enabling participants to further explore some of the issues raised. Presentations and Speakers
