Therefore, the importance of 20 Christhonoring music in the worship services of the Church cannot 21 be overstated; and 22 23 Whereas, George Wingate, Jr., minister of music at the New 24 Providence United Methodist Church, is among God’s chosen 25 servants who enable and encourage the saints to lift up their voices 26 in true musical worship of the Lord, and he is thereby worthy of 27 praise; and 28 29 Whereas, a native of Lee County, George Wingate, Jr., was born 30 on October 18, 1955, to George, Sr., and Annie M.W. Wingate; 31 and 32 33 Whereas, over the course of his music ministry, George Wingate, 34 Jr., has served Sandy Grove United Methodist Church (UMC) of 35 Lamar, Ebenezer UMC of Bishopville, Mt. Zion UMC of 36 Timmonsville, and New Providence UMC of Darlington, where he 37 has ministered since 2004; and 38 39 Whereas, God has always had a plan for his life, as testified in 40 Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV): “For I know the plans I have for you, 41 declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, 42 plans to give you hope and a future”; and

[5283] 2 1 2 Whereas, as an ordained minister, musician, motivator, and 3 servant, George Wingate, Jr., has touched thousands of people 4 through his remarkable musical gifts, both instrumental and vocal. 5 Now, therefore, 6 7 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 8 9 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 10 by this resolution, recognize and honor George Wingate, Jr., of 11 Darlington County, minister of music at the New Providence 12 United Methodist Church, and thank him for his noble service in 13 the worship of Almighty God. 14 15 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to 16 George Wingate, Jr. 17 XX 18
