Preschool Program

Policies: 1. Please check to see that your child feels well each day before you bring him/her to preschool. We appreciate being notified when your children will not be present. You can call (708)799.7000 ext. 5669 and leave a voicemail.

2. Preschool begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. Please arrive with your child between 9:20 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Door will be locked by 9:35 a.m.

3. Preschool ends at 11:05 a.m. Please pick up your child between 11:05 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. A student will be at the door to let you in at 11:05 a.m. Please do not return any sooner because you will not be able to get in unless you go to the front entrance of the building and sign-in at the visitor’s desk.

4. Please inform teachers in writing when a different person than the usual will be picking up your child. Make certain they know the correct location and time for pick-up. Feel free to form car pools if possible.

5. It is most convenient to park in the back of the building at Door 17. The classroom, room 140, is located directly next to Door 17. After 9:30 a.m. please enter through the visitor entrance in the front of the school.

6. During the winter, there may be days in which high school will not be in session due to the weather. Listen to Chicago stations WGN, WLS, etc. If the high school is not in session, then there will not be preschool. You can also check the District 228 website to see if the school is closed. Go to www.bhsd228.com. Click on Students and Parents and then Weather Closings.

7. Provide in a box, a complete change of clothing to be left at school for use in case of an emergency. Mark these items with the child’s full name. 8. For convenience, please have your child bring a school bag every day.

9. Since many of our activities are done on the floor and are somewhat messy in nature, we recommend that the children wear play clothes that are appropriate for these activities. Please do not send your child in their “Sunday best” clothing. Shoes in which the child can easily walk and climb in are also recommended.

10. Please DO NOT ALLOW your child to bring toys from home unless the teachers request it. A note will be sent home if we have a show and tell day.

11.Child care students provide snacks as part of their classroom experience. If parents choose to bring a special birthday treat, please let the teacher know in advance.

12.We have a registered nurse on duty every day in case of emergency.

13.You may visit the preschool at anytime. We ask that you wait at least 2 weeks before you come and observe. Feel free to ask questions or offer comments at any time about our program and/or your child. We want to continually strive for a program that will benefit students, children, and parents.
