General Overview
Currently Larry serves in the position Aerospace Technical Manager (ATM) for BSI, Inc. In this position he has developed several aerospace related courses for BSI’s aerospace auditor training program. Some of those courses include AS9100, AS9003, AS9006, AS9110 and AS9120. Larry currently developed and wrote BSI’s public RABQSA aerospace lead auditor course. He reviews and approves newly assigned aerospace auditors which BSI employs and provides instruction regarding aerospace registration requirements to BSI’s aerospace auditing group. He also serves as BSI’s subject matter expert (SME) supporting queries which may come from BSI clients.
As BSI’s SME he functions as the company’s representative at the Americas Aerospace Quality Group meetings. In addition to those duties he manages major aerospace audit accounts for Lockheed Martin and Northrup Grumman. He is an approved RABQSA/IRCA lead auditor for AS9100, AS9110, AS9120, and ANAB approved auditor for AS9003, ISO 9001; 2000 and is a qualified auditor for ISO 14001 Environment Management Systems. In addition to performing in the role of aerospace instructor, Larry performs numerous aerospace industry audits annually to maintain his currency. In some cases those aerospace audits may be joint audits associated with the environmental management system requirements.
Aerospace Industry Experience
For 24 years (1967-1992) Larry was on active duty in the Air Force and was assigned to various responsibilities all related to the aircraft maintenance field. Also while on active duty he was a member of the quality auditing (inspector general (IG) team) for aircraft maintenance organizations. Larry’s aircraft maintenance experience in the air force includes performing maintenance on F-4, A- 10, KC-135, U2, SR-71 and F-5 type aircraft. In his final five years of air force service, Larry held the position of aircraft maintenance manager for the aircraft maintenance organization at Beale AFB, Ca. Larry retired from the air force in the grade of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8) in November 1992.
Also while on active duty Larry achieved the status of Adjunct Instructor with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and taught undergraduate courses for those individuals seeking a bachelors’ degree and/or those seeking to be certified as an FAA certified Airframe and Power plant (A&P) Mechanic. Larry taught for a total of six years at Beale AFB and Edwards AFB, Ca. Courses for which he provided instruction include Basic Aircraft Maintenance Theory and Applications, Aircraft Electrical Systems, Federal Aviation Administration Rules/Regulations, General Aeronautics, Aircraft Engine Systems and Applications, and Aircraft Structures. While teaching at the two base locations, Larry provided support to the local aero clubs by performing restoration services for various types of aero club aircraft on display. Course Qualifications
Larry is qualified by the ANAB to teach the AS9100 Lead Auditor course and can instruct in the aerospace and environmental internal auditor course.
Trade Memberships & Certifications
Larry is an RAB approved Aerospace Experience Auditor (AEA) for AS9100, AS9120 and AS9003. He is also an ISO 9001:2000 Certified Lead Auditor and an ISO 14001 auditor. Larry has held an FAA certified Airframe and Power plant License since April 1987.
Education & Training Larry holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, an Associates degree in aircraft maintenance technology. He is also a FAA licensed airframe and power plant mechanic.
