Main responsibilities The headteacher will:
. be the lead professional in the school, accountable to the school governors . provide the vision, leadership and direction to ensure the school is managed to meet its aims and targets . work with others to evaluate the school's performance to identify priorities for continuous improvement and raising standards . ensure opportunities for all . ensure resources are effectively used to achieve the school's aims and objectives . carry out the day-to-day management and administration of the school . secure the commitment of the local community.
Main purpose
. to provide leadership and management for the school to the highest professional standards . to promote high quality learning and teaching by effectively managing learning and the resources available to enable every child to realise their potential
. to maintain a culture that is learning centred, promotes excellence, equality and high expectations of all pupils. 2
Person specification for Headteacher
Experience:
1. as deputy headteacher or in senior leadership 2. of managing change 3. of managing budgets and resources 4. in promoting the professional development of staff through the performance management process 5. of the school improvement process 6. of working in partnership with parents/carers and outside agencies
Qualifications
1. NPQH 2. qualified teacher status
Practical skills
1. proven leadership and management skills 2. excellent communication skills 3. the ability to lead, develop and manage people and resources 4. demonstrate knowledge and experience of a range of curricular areas and phases of primary education 5. the ability to encourage and motivate through positive management 6. the ability to evaluate and account for the efficiency and effectiveness of the school
