Minutes of last meeting 13 August Minutes agreed

Litter pick Saturday 11 October. Beverly is unable to attend but will kindly donate a cake (via Graham Ba). Mike will book the hall, contact the Gem to insert a notice, and invite Alun Cairns, Jane Hutt and Andrew RT Davies. Mike/Rebecca will prepare laminated notices as previous design. Quiz and AGM 26th November The AGM will be held during the quiz night on 26th Nov. After some discussion it was agreed to have 1 round of questions, then the AGM, for at most 10 minutes before the break. A summary of LCG activities ( per the October Newsletter) and a copy of the current accounts will be placed on each table. It was agreed to include some questions about the LCG activities and financial status in the quiz. Mike will ensure a non-LCG member is available to chair the AGM. It was additionally agreed to use the event to decide upon a suitable logo for the LCG. Rebecca will have the logo options available for printing in the October newsletter and will be voted for by a show of hands at the quiz night. Additionally, Chris suggested asking the attendees for their proposals for projects for the village, and it was agreed to place a sheet of paper on each table to record any suggestions. ACTION Arthur – include LCG related questions in the quiz. Place LCG activities sheet “What we’ve done on your behalf”, and accounts on tables, show logo options, and a “suggestions” sheet. Mike – prepare short agenda, arrange chairman Steve – include logo options in Newsletter Rebecca – logos to Steve and conduct vote for preferred logo at AGM

Bulb planting for “diamond” Rebecca advised that she has bought more bulbs and is growing them in pots prior to planting in the diamond in spring. ACTION Rebecca

Village email communications and publicising events Using “Mailchimp” was agreed to be a better communication system. Additional mirror at road junction at The Cross Inn Mike has received no response from Steven Arthur at the Vale council despite several attempted contacts. ACTION Mike will continue to attempt to contact Steven Arthur at the Vale council

Village newsletter Steve is preparing the newsletter for October and will include the summary of LCG activities (G Bu) and also show the LCG logo options as well as a notification of the need to agree a design for the logo during the quiz night. ACTION Steve

Best Kept Village 2015 Rebecca advised that the best way forward in this is to ensure to include as much of other village groups’ activity as possible. A decision was taken to enter the competition in 2015, 60 years after last winning, and this will be discussed in more detail at further LCG meetings.

Village Entrance Signs Chris advised that the Town Council has agreed to fully fund both signs subject to confirmation that the Vale Council will supply and install them. After some discussion it was agreed to leave the plans for planting etc around the signs until they are actually installed. ACTION Chris will keep in contact with the council and update LCG

Llanblethian History Trail & Grant Rebecca advised that the grant money spend deadline has been delayed to end of October. Plans are to have 3 A3 size signs at Y Bont Faen school, Emms cottage and Piccadilly Park. ACTION The designs are being finalised and Rebecca will circulate copies for review when available.

Cowbridge Town Destination Management Chris showed the 3 options for the panels being proposed with points of interest in Cowbridge, and to be sited at Eastgate, Westgate and behind the town hall. It was agreed that Chris should ask to have the Llanblethian history trail added to the map on the panels. ACTION Chris

Financial report Finances are healthy with a cash balance of £1160

AOB Graham Ba advised that he has asked Blueprint Construction to quote for re-pointing the stone wall surrounding the Village Pump at the kissing gate entrance to 3 fields. Next Meeting 8 October 2014, 5:15pm The Cross Inn
