OCMS Takes First Place in UIL

On December 17 and 18, students from Ore City, Waskom, White Oak, New Diana, Jefferson, and Tatum traveled to Union Grove to compete in the district UIL competition, and Ore City Middle School came away with the first place title! Students competed in Music Memory, Art, Chess Puzzle, Math, Number Sense, Calculator, Listening Skills, Dictionary, Spelling, Writing, Speaking, Science, Social Studies, and Maps, Graphs, and Charts. Our students and teachers worked really hard for several weeks preparing, and it certainly paid off.

They took first place team in Art 6, Calculator 6, Dictionary 6, Music Memory 6, Number Sense 6, Social Studies 6, Calculator 7, Math 7, Number Sense 7, Social Studies 7, Calculator 8, and Science II 8.

The following students won individual medals:

1st place – Chanda Kosal, Aaron Nigreville, Dylan Bellew, Hailey Deshotel, Tyler Cardenas, Michael Abrego, Victoria Pena, Andi Freeman, and McKenzie Murrell

2nd place – Jade Draper, Landri Ross, Hailey Deshotel, Geoffrey Heard, Colton Reese, Andi Freeman, Elijah Jackson, Jesse Mefford, Stormie Tolar, Krystian Hurt, and Cassie Gabaldon

3rd place – Michael Abrego, Ty Freeman, Jose Lopez, Dylan Bellew, Keri Dean, Hailey Evans, Kenya Narvaez, Victoria Pena, Ty Jordan, Betzabeth Narvaez

4th-6th place – Caleb Dabreu, Keri Dean, Veronica Dominguez, Melanie Oliver, Dylan Ruiz, Chanda Kosal, Lauren Pearson, Brandee Gabaldon, Hailey Deshotel, Hayden Green, Hannah Pendarvis, Maverick Elwell, Kasey Howell, Tanner Organ, Brenda Locklear, Dylan Throckmorton, Betzabeth Narvaez, and Bre Sash
