Dear Participant,

My name is and I am a student from the University of Dayton and my group and I are studying entrepreneurship. We are writing you to request that you assist us in the completion of an entrepreneurship class project. Specifically, you are being asked to participate in a survey designed to gather information about your perceptions and preferences regarding a business idea that we are studying for class. The next two sentences will vary depending on if the survey corresponds to the concept statement or the concept test—see below.

For the concept statement: First, we would like for you to read a brief description of our business idea. Then, we ask that complete a short survey about your perceptions for that business. For the concept test: First, we would like for you to look at an illustration describing our business idea. Then, we ask that complete a survey about your perceptions for that business.

You were identified as a candidate for this study based on our team’s belief that a person such are yourself might be in the target market for the type of business idea that we are studying for class. Further, if a person such as yourself is not the appropriate target market for our business idea and/or if the business idea is not designed to fit your needs and/or wants, we are hoping to be able to learn how to create a better business based on your feedback.

Please note that this survey was designed solely for in-class teaching purposes and no one except the student team and professor will have access to any of your responses.

Your participation in this project is voluntary. You do not have to answer any question(s) that you do not wish to answer. Please be advised that you may choose not to participate in this research, and you may withdraw from filling out the survey at any time without consequence. However, our team would sincerely appreciate your help with this project as without completion of this survey, our team cannot complete our class project.
