TONY L. CHAPMAN UPON THE 12 OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE SOUTH 13 CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND TO 14 WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL 15 HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS. 16 17 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate note with 18 appreciation the career of Mr. Tony L. Chapman of Columbia, 19 S.C., who retired on April 15, 2010; and 20 21 Whereas, Tony Chapman began his thirty-four year career with the 22 South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) in 1976 as 23 a summer employee; and 24 25 Whereas, Mr. Chapman is a registered Professional Engineer and a 26 graduate of the University of South Carolina where he earned a 27 Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering; and 28 29 Whereas, he has progressed through the ranks and has served 30 SCDOT in numerous capacities. He worked in the field both in 31 maintenance and construction for twenty-four years; and 32 33 Whereas, for the last eight years, Mr. Chapman has served at 34 Headquarters in the positions of Director of Maintenance and 35 Deputy State Highway Engineer; and 36 37 Whereas, Mr. Chapman was promoted to State Highway Engineer 38 in March 2005 and then to Deputy Secretary for Engineering when 39 the State Highway Engineer title was redefined; and 40 41 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are grateful 42 for the long and distinguished career of Mr. Chapman and are

[1439] 2 1 pleased to learn that after more than three decades of service to the 2 State of South Carolina, he will be enjoying his retirement. Now, 3 therefore, 4 5 Be it resolved by the Senate: 6 7 That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate 8 Mr. Tony L. Chapman upon the occasion of his retirement from 9 the South Carolina Department of Transportation and wish him 10 much happiness and fulfillment in all his future endeavors. 11 12 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 13 Mr. Tony L.
