Day 1 7:45 a.m. Registration opens Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center Lobby Families will be directed on where to park upon entering campus via Ave of the Arts. Look for signs.

9:15 a.m. University Welcome Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center

10:00 a.m. Their Academic Journey Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center The Provost will talk about academic expectations and what resources are available to help students succeed in the classroom.

10:45 a.m. Charting a Successful Academic Course Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center Students often struggle in their first semester. Learn some easy tips that will allow you to support them from home and recognize when they may be struggling.

11:30 a.m. Pillars to Success Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center "Learn more about our "four Pillars to Success" for your student's time at CNU. Hear from Study Abroad, Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities, and the Center's for Community Engagement and Career Planning about a number of co-curricular or experiential learning, opportunities to enhance your student's educational experience at Christopher Newport. This session will be facilitated by our Vice Provost for Research, Graduate Studies and Assessment."

12:30 p.m. Lunch/Break The Commons

1:45 p.m. Livin’ the Life Ballroom, David Student Union The residence life staff will share what living on campus is all about.

Commuter Connections Jefferson Room, David Student Union Learn about resources for our commuter population and ways for them to engage in campus life.

2:45 p.m. Our Community of Honor Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center Learn about our Honor Code and how it guides our community.

3:45 p.m. Keeping our Community Safe and Healthy Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center This question and answer session will address safety and health services on campus.

4:30 p.m. Family Reception Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center Lobby Join us for a Family social hour to meet president circle members and CNU faculty and staff

5:30 p.m. President’s Leadership Program Family Meeting Peebles Theater, Ferguson Center *Session 1 (June 19) and Session 3 (June 26) Only If your student is part of the President’s Leadership Program, please attend this session to meet the PLP staff and learn more about the program.

6:00 p.m. Dinner The Commons

7:15 p.m. Pathways to Engagement Washington Room, David Student Union Learn about the ways we intentionally transition your student to be an engaged member of our campus community outside the classroom. Information will be shared about our Greek community, clubs and organizations, diversity and inclusion efforts, and much more!

7:15 p.m. Varsity Athletics Reception Freeman 201 and 202 Families of students playing an NCAA sport or varsity sport (sailing, cheer, dance) should attend this session to learn about expectations and resources.

8:15 p.m. Crew Leader Show Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center Sit back and relax as the crew leaders share some tips about college and what it means to be a captain in a fun and entertaining way! Day 2 8 a.m. Breakfast The Commons

8:15 a.m. Disability Support Location: TBD Learn about CNU’s process for requesting accommodations as well as resources for students with disabilities

Money Matters Panel(blue group) Freeman 201 and 202, Freeman Center The offices of student accounts, financial aid, and VA benefits will provide a question and answer session.

Auxiliary Services Panel (silver group) Gaines Theatre, Freeman Center Learn how to help your student manage services on campus such as; parking, textbooks, Captains Cash, housing and meal plans.

10:00 a.m. Breakout Sessions 2

Money Matters (silver group) Freeman 201 and 202, Freeman Center Auxiliary Services Panel (blue group) Gaines Theatre, Freeman Center

11:00 a.m. Officially a Captain Ballroom, David Student Union Our University Registrar explain your student’s course schedule and what to be prepared for once you move in August.

11:45 a.m. A Conversation with the Vice President of Student Affairs Ballroom, David Student Union Learn steps you can take over the summer to prepare yourself and your student for life at CNU.

1:00 p.m. Closing Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center Wrapping up Setting Sail with parting words and friendly reminders!

Following the Closing Showcase Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center Lobby Offices of Housing, Dining, Captains Card, ROTC, Financial Aid, Student Accounts and IT services will be available for last minute questions. A representative from Bed, Bath and Beyond will also be available to share information for the residence halls.

*PLP students staying for Leadership Adventure will check in immediately following the closing in the Peebles Theater Lobby. Please note there are no sessions for parents during Leadership Adventure.

*Pick up for PLP students at the conclusion of Leadership Adventure (Friday) will be in Parking lots B and C.

*Students and guests invited to the Captain’s Launch lunch will proceed to the Studio Theater immediately following the closing.

*Student will check out of their residence halls and be shuttled back to the parking deck. Please pick up your student at the parking deck.
