Wildcat Welcome 2010!! Day 1- 7th grade only

Please wear your light blue Westridge polo and casual pants. You have been assigned as either a session leader or color group teacher.  Color group teachers will be responsible for greeting students in the assigned classroom, escorting students to sessions, providing supervision during the assembly and during each session, teaching a lunch time PBS lesson and leading a Q & A session in your color room. Your plan time will be two 20 minute sessions.  Session leaders will be responsible for co-teaching the assigned session. You will be provided a lesson outline. Your plan time will be during a lengthened lunch hour and Q & A time. Teachers who are both session leaders and lunch room supervisors will have their plan during the Q & A and ice cream social.

Hundley, Kistner, Gasper, Smoot – Oversee SPED operations. 8:05 – 8:15 Teachers to the front area for duty. Work the crowd!!! Help direct students to the MPR when let into the building. ** Language Arts teachers board busses to greet students and usher them into building. Math and SPED teachers hand out schedules in MPR and direct students to color group classrooms.

Color Group Teachers move to assigned rooms at 8:15 to meet and greet your students!

Color Group Teachers: Approximately 32-34 students per group.

8:15 – 8:45 Students pick up schedules in the MPR and then report to color group classroom. Staff will be in the hallway helping to funnel students from front hallway to the MPR and on to their designated classrooms. Color group teachers- provide each student with a name tag- first name only is fine and a color beaded necklace.

8:45 – 8:55 Make sure all students have their schedules and nametags are on. Explain how seating for assemblies works (Single file up the right side of the bleachers, walk on the floor not the seats…). Students are to sit with their color group.

8:55 – 9:05 Move to assembly (Please wait for announcement.)

9:05 – 9:30 Assembly- Welcome & introductions….

9:30 – 9:40 Dismiss out of bleachers by color group and move to session 1. (Session teachers leave early to be ready for first session.) 1:40 – 1:50 Students return to Color Group classroom  Collect & recycle color day schedules  Pass out student class schedules Prepare students for schedule walk-thru  Have students mark out second semester classes, note locker # and combination  Have students make note of color room number and remind them they will return to color room after walk-thru

3:15 – Ice Cream Social in MPR/ courtyard. Escort color group to MPR. Elective teachers help pass out ice cream. ** Teachers & staff, mix and mingle with students. **

3:40 – Start Dismissing for Busses All teachers on hall and bus duty.
