Please read through this packet in its entirety before filling out the registration form contained on the last page.

Once completed, registration form may be submitted by…

Email: [email protected] Fax: 617-744-5479, Attn: Keith Mail: Boston Ski and Sports Club, 51 Water Street, Watertown MA 02472-4611, Attn: Keith PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING BEFORE SUBMITTING. YOU (AS CAPTAIN) ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING ALL THE INFORMATION WITHIN THIS PACKET And FEES INCURRED BY YOUR TEAM!

HOW TO REGISTER…

Any registration without appropriate payment will not be accepted. We accept MasterCard or VISA only. American Express or Discover cannot be used. If you are paying by check, your team space is not guaranteed until we have that check in hand.

To reserve a team space:  Submit your completed registration form, along with the full team fee ($400 base team fee), to the BSSC Dodgeball Program Manager.  If the league has reached its initial capacity, your team will be placed on a waitlist until a spot becomes available. Failure to register at least one month prior to the start date may result in loss of team space to a team on the waitlist.

Early Registration Discount: Sign up your team at least one month prior to the start date and SAVE $50 off the team fee.

Team Fee Balance: Team fees (not including non-member fees) must be submitted at the time of registration. Registrations received without payment information will not be accepted. If partial payment is necessary, please ask. If paying by check, payment must be received one week prior to start or credit card provided will be charged. Teams having not paid their team fee will not be included on the schedule.

Individual payments for team fees: Individual payments for a team will not be accepted unless collected by the captain and all sent together. Individuals calling to pay their portion of the team fee will not be taken. Entire team fee (including non- member fees) is the responsibility of the captain. Payments from captains will be accepted in the form of cash, check(s), and/or singular credit card. We do realize how difficult it can be to collect from teammates in advance. If you collect individual checks from them in advance, but do not have them all at time of deadline, send in what you have and put the remainder on credit card or separate check. To ease your burden, we do recommend collecting from your teammates prior to the league. This way, you have a commitment from them, and you do not have to front all of the money. You should have knowledge of who your non-members are prior to the start of the league. Make sure to collect the non-member fee from these players when collecting their team portion.

What if team fees are not paid on time: Failure to pay fees prior to league may result in the team being dropped to waitlist status and replaced by first team on waitlist. If no teams are on the waitlist, teams with an outstanding team fee balance will not receive their first game time until their balance is paid in full. Once the full season schedule has been set, unpaid teams will lose their opportunity to play in the session.

ONCE YOUR REGISTRATION HAS BEEN PROCESSED…

TEAM CONFIRMATION INFORMATION Upon confirmation of registering a team, the team captain will receive 3 separate emails.

a.i. Team confirmation: This will include an attachment that has basic details and timetables for the league

a.ii. A payment receipt: You will now receive an e-mail receipt for any and all payments made. a.ii.1. If your team is waitlisted – you will note that the “Total Paid” says zero because you have not been charged.

a.iii. Team Roster Link: You now have full control of your roster up to the roster deadline. You will be sent a unique link and password to log into your team’s roster. You will need the following information for every player so that we can electronically confirm their membership status. ALL information is required: a.iii.1. First and last name a.iii.2. Email address a.iii.3. Birth date a.iii.4. Phone number a.iii.5. Gender a.iii.6. Membership status

Spelling and accuracy are important; otherwise the system will view them as a non-member and you will be charged a non-member fee for that person. Our advice is to send a request out to your teammates for this info sooner rather than waiting until the last minute.

You can make changes and upload new rosters to BSSC as changes occur. Non member fees will be processed on the roster lock date (3 weeks after league starts). At that point you will be charged for anyone who is “still” not a BSSC member. One of the benefits is that those people who join after the season starts but before the deadline will no longer slip through the cracks.

PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THE “Team Roster Login Information” EMAIL AS YOU WILL NEED THE PASSWORD PROVIDED WITHIN IT TO MAKE ANY ROSTER CHANGES.

NON-MEMBER FEE INFORMATION

Non-member fees are charged after the third week of the season (this will not necessarily be after your team’s third game)

1) Non-member fees: Rosters are to be submitted using the online link mentioned above (failing to complete the form can result in your team being removed from the league and/or charged the maximum number of non-member fees). Rosters will be electronically checked against BSSC’s database to verify members/non-members and captains will be notified of the membership status of their players at the first game. Payment for non-member fees will be processed at the conclusion of the 3rd week of the league (this is not necessarily your team’s third game). At this time, any outstanding balances will be charged to the credit card provided. If no roster is given, a maximum non-member fee will be charged (15) and the team could be eliminated from the league.

2) Membership status – To avoid the $25 non-member fee ($10 for BAC leagues), a player must be a member for the duration of the session. A person’s membership status can be found on the roster that is sent out to the league on the first night of play. For BSSC members, the email address you provide on your team roster MUST match the email address the person has on file with BSSC. a. Memberships that expire during the session: If they do not renew before the roster deadline (By renewing for $50, it will extend their membership for one full year from the present expiration date), the captain will be charged the $25 non-member fee ($10 for BAC leagues). b. Non-members wishing to join BSSC: To avoid the non-member fee, a player must join BSSC ($65 for 1 year) during the first 3 weeks of the session. Players that become a member AFTER the 3rd week of the session are still responsible for paying the captain for the non-member fee. c. Roster changes are allowed up to the 3rd week of the session.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

1) Forfeit Policy –

Having to forfeit is not fun for anyone, including your opponents. Teams that at least have part of their team able to play may be able to grab subs during the night. Please refer to the Dodgeball Rulebook for more information about picking up players. If you do ultimately have to forfeit… a. Forfeiting in Advance - If you know you absolutely have to forfeit, you must contact the Program Manager (or another BSSC representative) by 2pm on the day of the league AND receive a response (whether by phone or email). Your team will be given losses for all scheduled matches, but no further penalties. b. No-Show - If your team fails to show up with no notice, your team is subject to the BSSC Forfeit Policy. You will receive losses for all scheduled games, and possibly be excluded from playoffs and/or the remainder of the season.

2) Refund Policy –

a) Greater than 21 days prior to start of league, a refund of amount paid will be given, less $50 service charge. b) Within 21 days of start of league... NO REFUND will be given unless league is full and a suitable replacement can be made. If replaced, a refund will be given, less a minimum $50 service charge.

3) Sportsma nship Policy –

A primary goal of the Boston Ski & Sports Club is to provide its participants with a fun and pleasurable sporting experience. This experience begins with the arrival at the field/gym/court and continues through the game and subsequent post game activities. We recognize that the nature of sports in and of itself is competitive. Therefore, we have established rules, which dictate how a game is to be played. These rules include both on field and off field behavior. There is more to sports than winning and losing. Participation in sports is an experience. The benefits of fair play, exercise, teamwork, and camaraderie that exist in our sports leagues far outweigh any win or loss that may appear on a Schedule and Standings page. There is neither a time, nor a place in any BSSC sports league for any individual(s) to behave in an unsportsmanlike manner. No matter what the outcome of a play or a game, good sportsmanship MUST be observed at all times.

All persons, participating in a Boston Ski & Sports Club (BSSC) sanctioned sports activity, should be aware of and must adhere to the following policy.

In its simplest terms, a good sportsman is defined as someone who not only enjoys playing the game, but enhances the enjoyment of those around them, be it teammates, competitors, officials, or spectators. Any action that detracts from this enjoyment is deemed unsportsmanlike. Therefore, any participant who attempts to or intends to lessen the enjoyment of others will be considered in violation of this policy.

Examples of unsportsmanlike activities include, but are not limited to…  verbal or physical abuse of fellow participants  intimidation / aggressive play  hostile language or action directed toward a BSSC game official, a BSSC employee, a BSSC representative or any other game participant

Violators of this policy can expect to be immediately ejected from the game and be required to leave the playing area in a timely fashion.

Subsequent penalties may include, but are not limited to:  Suspension  Expulsion from the league  A ban from further BSSC activities

The degree to which a person is reprimanded is at the sole discretion of BSSC. It is our sincere hope that this policy will be an effective deterrent to poor behavior and help to ensure the continuing existence of fun and safe leagues.

4) Division Placement – On your registration, please indicate which division your team would prefer to play. Division A is considered the higher division, “B” would be the lower. Divisions will only occur if total number of teams allows it. Please remember that BSSC reserves the right to move any team up or down based on past performance.

5) Schedulin g Requests / No-Play Dates –

Below is a list of 2017 dates on which no BSSC sports leagues will be scheduled for games. All other calendar dates are subject to having games scheduled. 6) League Rules –

While the primary purpose for the league is entertainment, all participants are expected to follow the rules of the league. Teams should familiarize themselves with the BSSC Dodgeball Rulebook before their first night of games, and ask any questions they may have BEFORE playing. The rulebook is in place, and is sometimes modified, to ensure everyone involved has a safe and fun experience during the season.

Thank you for your interest in BSSC Dodgeball. Have a great season!
