 Direct supervision of 3 Research Advancement Specialists, Seniors o Review, coordinate equitable workload distribution and adjust as needed o Conduct performance reviews (including addressing all personnel issues), ensuring the development and tracking of professional development goals, coordinate targeted training based on need o Review all leave requests – vacation and sick o Review all travel requests – make recommendation to Dean of Natural Sciences and CLAS Director of Operations o Coordinate back-up coverage for RAO office o Coordinate and conduct training for all new staff, including planning and implementing training schedule  Oversee operations of the Research Advancement Office (RAO) – including holding regularly scheduled team meetings, present office related issues/recommendations (on organization policies and/or procedures, personnel issues, projects) to immediate supervisor  Primary contact with Dean of Natural Sciences and Associate Dean for Research for Natural Sciences on all RAO related issues  Facilitator as requested in the OVPREA Certificate Training Program and faculty workshops and roundtables for various topics such as Basics of Sponsored Projects, Proposal Processing, Proposal Budgets, Cost Share, Supplemental Proposals, submitting proposals to NIH, and others as needed/requested  Training/mentoring of departmental research advancement staff  Provide direct support to assigned departments within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (faculty, graduate students, support staff) to develop proposals, budgets, complete application packets, review for compliance with federal, state, sponsor and university policies and procedures, act as liaison between departments and ORSPA, or faculty/department and sponsor to clarify guidelines or other sponsor-specific information as required/requested.

1992 – March, 2003 Sponsored Projects Officer (SPO)

 Continuation of all Grant and Contract Administrator duties and responsibilities listed below (job title change to SPO)  Co-facilitator of “ABC’s of Proposals – A Primer” at the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) Annual National Meeting in Washington, D.C. in November 2002  Member of the ORSPA Cost Share Committee  Facilitator for the OVPREA Certificate Training Program o Basics class o Budgeting class o Cost Share class o Other topics over the years  Other duties as assigned  Volunteer for Ad hoc committees/projects  In-house National Institutes of Health consultant regarding updated policies and procedures, including training of new SPO’s on NIH proposal preparation, review, and submission

November 1989 – 1992 Grant and Contract Administrator

 Act as primary liaison with faculty, staff, sponsor, and ASU administration in all aspects and phases of proposal development, preparation, submission, negotiation, and activation of externally funded projects.  Consult with faculty and staff on the development and review of proposals (especially budgets) and checking for conformity to sponsor guidelines and ASU policy;  Review for accuracy and compliance, approve, and facilitate submission.of proposals in a timely manner;  Maintain a thorough and current knowledge of, and familiarity with, the policies and procedures of various funding agencies;  Stay current with frequent changes in regulations which could have an impact on current and future awards;  Conduct negotiations with sponsors on behalf of the faculty and ASU's best interests;  Answer questions/ provide clarification or additional information to sponsors when necessary;  Review award documents for compliance with ASU policies;  Initiate activation of awards;  Prepare subcontract and/or contract documents to conform with ASU's standard terms and conditions;  Obtain necessary approvals from PI's, sponsors, legal counsel, and appropriate University Administration officials;  Attend conferences and workshops on behalf of ORSPA/ASU;  Aid in development and review of materials and presenter in OVPREA certificate training program and development workshops given by ORSPA .  Locate and disseminate funding opportunities to faculty, graduate students and staff in assigned colleges and departments  Provide assistance and advice to researchers and staff on administration of awards, and proper use of sponsored projects funds  Participate on committees  Supervise student worker with site mate Proficient with multiple software and mainframe applications, including the Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Coeus, Advantage, HRMS and PeopleSoft, and wide variety of federal and non-federal electronic proposal application programs including grants.gov, Fastlane, NIH eCommons, INSPIRES, FedConnect, etc . Strong people skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.

March 1989 – November 1989 COLLEGE OF NURSING, ASU, Research Office, Research Assistant II

 Responsible for data coding, entry, and analysis, development of codebooks, library searches.  Assistance of faculty with grant-related activities,  Instruction of graduate students in data coding and entry, and development of codebooks.  Position necessitates a thorough familiarity with various computer programs, as well as experience with the mainframe.

September 1985 – December 1988 UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT CHICAGO COLLEGE OF NURSING Research specialist/Manager, Office of Research Facilitation  Responsible for tracking and reporting on the College of Nursing's research productivity utilizing LOTUS 123;  Dissemination of research information. Duties include a thorough knowledge of current developments and research opportunities in the rapidly-changing health science disciplines;  Evaluation of potential funding sources for their applicability to faculty and student research interest areas;  Facilitation of the grant submission process including budget, indirect cost rate, and fringe benefit calculations.  Direct responsibility for the day-to-day management of the office, and staff training;  Direct responsibility for supervision of office staff;  Staff member liaison to College of Nursing Research Committee.  Responsible for organization of the 18th Annual Nursing Research Development Conference, and the development of the first annual College of Nursing "RESEARCH" publication.
