Discovery Gardens – approach flyover from SZR – Current situation

Long traffic queues form on flyover and sometimes back onto SZR because of the design of the exit from the flyover. Drivers tend to move only into the right hand lane going forward to the traffic signals because of concerns about coming into conflict with vehicles from direction. The level of traffic from Jebel Ali is very low at all times and does not need two lanes and / or uninterrupted flow towards traffic signals just past the flyover on the approach to Discovery Gardens. Narrow or pinch the approach for traffic from Jebel Ali direction to move vehicles into the left-hand lane with a Give Way or Stop sign causing traffic from this direction to slow down or stop. Priority at all times is therefore given to traffic from coming off the flyover. This will allow vehicles to freely move into both lanes approaching the traffic signals without worries of conflicting with traffic from Jebel Ali.
