They may use a recliner during the day. The last dose of droxidopa, fludrocortisone, and/or midodrine should be at least 3–4 hours before bedtime to reduce risk of supine hypertension. In most patients it is recommend to elevate the head of bed (by 10–20 degrees or by 4–12 inches) to reduce risk of supine hypertension. Do not use pillows as this is inadequate and can worsen stomach absorption of medications by bending patients at the waist.
