Flowers on the Rock follows up an earlier book Wild Geese: Buddhism in Canada also published by MQUP. The essays in these two books examine the dramatic growth of Buddhism in Canada. Individual chapters contain methodological critique of the study of , biographies of prominent Buddhist personalities, field reports of important Buddhist temples, analytical reflection on currents within the study of Buddhism such as gender and multiculturalism.
