Flowers on the Rock follows up an earlier book Wild Geese: Buddhism in Canada also published by MQUP. The essays in these two books examine the dramatic growth of Buddhism in Canada. Individual chapters contain methodological critique of the study of Buddhism in the West, biographies of prominent Buddhist personalities, field reports of important Buddhist temples, analytical reflection on currents within the study of Buddhism such as gender and multiculturalism.
