ROWING HEAD COACH – SYDNEY UNIVERSITY BOAT CLUB

. 1 year maximum term contract (including 6-month probation) . Full-time (38 hours per week) . Weekend and extended hours required at specific times . Remuneration Package dependent on experience and qualifications

Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness (SUSF) is a dynamic organisation providing sporting, recreation and fitness services to the University and general community. This involves management of over 40 sporting clubs, a number of fitness, health and other sport-related facilities, and the coordination of University and community based sport and recreation programs.

The High Performance department serves to provide support to student athletes in their quest for academic and sporting excellence. The department encapsulates the Elite Athlete Program, Physical Preparation and competitive sporting clubs and their staff to achieve the highest standards possible. SUSF has produced over 140 Olympians and over 110 Australian Rugby Union representatives – 92 of who are Wallabies. We are home to the Sydney Uni Flames, who compete in the Women’s National Basketball League. The Sydney University Football Club is the oldest and most successful Rugby program in Australia and boasting many Super 15 contracted players. Sydney University Athletics Club is one of the oldest athletics clubs in the country and has a proud history of strong performances at Australian University Games, Commonwealth Games and Olympics. Our swimming and rowing programs have recently received recognition from governing bodies as centres of excellence and with our Water Polo programs compete nationally and consistently provide athletes for International competition. The SUANFC (Aussie Rules club) competes in the National 2nd Tier competition – North Eastern Australian Football League.

Here is an exciting and unique opportunity to work within the Sydney University High Performance Department.

As the Rowing Head Coach at SUBC you will be a key driver in developing and preparing our Elite Athletes within the SUBC program to achieve high performance targets. To be successful in this role you will have experience coaching and managing athletes to National selection.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of 3 years prior experience with an Australian or International Professional sporting franchise or institute program, and a proven record producing Elite Rowing Programs or coaching Elite Rowers to State, National and/or International standard. A minimum attainment of a level 3 Coaching accreditation is essential. A relevant tertiary qualification and current first aid is advantageous, as well as a background in video analysis.

The Sydney University Boat Club (SUBC) Rowing Head Coach role will be a challenging yet rewarding position that is suited to someone who is serious about enhancing their career in sport. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real difference to one of the leading educational and sporting institutions in Australia whilst working amongst and learning from professional administrators and staff associated with Sydney University Sport & Fitness.
