n Taveta, Dr Naomi Shaban is known for one thing: listening Ito what Taveta people want and then implementing their agenda as presented to her. It is her signature. Her experience in politics, right from when she first vied in 2002, has taught her one thing: “If you are seeking political leadership, it’s the people who matter and what they say is what you do because you are their servant”. Her entry in politics was as a result of a request by elders of Taveta Constituency, in Taita Taveta County. But she was not keen to honour it. Sensing this was the case, the elder approached her mother to talk to her. She agreed to become a politician and since then, she has not looked back, representing the people of Taveta for over a decade. During this time, she has proved to be a politician who is worthy her salt. In 2002 when the opposition was very strong in her region, she decided to stick with the ruling party Kanu. Cidi who is vying for the Kilifi County Senate Seat will be making her second attempt after she lost the race in 2013 to the Coalition for Reform and Democracy (CORD) candidate. The seat, which has attracted a significant number of male contestants among them the incumbent, is promising to be a bruising battle. Her entry into the race to serve as a public servant is not new to Cidi. She has been a General Manager in charge of sales at the Kenya Airways where she was instrumental in developing and implementing marketing strategies for Kenya. She has also served in the same capacity at the Tourism Foundation where she assisted in the setting up of a Tourism Data base for Kenya. Other strings of success include her successful role in the transformation of the Kenya Airports Authority where she served as the Deputy Managing Director. With a Masters of Arts Degree and a Higher Diploma in Marketing from the McGill University in Canada, Cidi brings to political leadership her unrivalled expertise in corporate administration and governance.
