Our 2019 A results have been truly outstanding, with 71% of all exams taken this year achieving A*- A grades and a 100% overall pass rate. Overall A*- B (92%) and A* - C (98%) are the highest and joint highest grade scores ever achieved in these categories by Abbey Cambridge students.

Looking at results by subject; Biology, Art, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Psychology all achieved a 100% A* - B pass rate. In Mathematics and Further Mathematics 87% of students achieved A* - A grades, with over half of this year’s Mathematics cohort achieving the top grade of A*.

80% of Chemistry, and 75% of Biology students achieved A* - A grades. Business Studies, Chemistry, and History students also achieved a 100% A* - C pass rate.

Our International Foundation Programme continues to go from strength to strength. Our 2019 GCSE students achieved some of the best results in recent memory, and the best A* - A grade percentage ever. 24% of all exams taken achieved the new top grade of 9 (or A**), with students performances in Chemistry (50% Grade 9), Biology (30%) Mathematics (38%) and Physics (31%) being particularly eye catching.

Two thirds of our GCSE students achieved 9 - 7 (A**- A) grades this year. Results which will set them up well for their A Level studies and future applications to top universities.

All of our students who accepted an off er from successfully gained their place this Autumn, with 4 going to Cambridge and 1 to Oxford.

32 A Level students moved on to join G5 universities in 2019. In addition to Oxbridge, 11 students progressed to , 15 students went to University College London, and 1 joined the London School of Economics and Political Science. University College London continues to be one of our biggest student destinations, with more than 100 students joining this global top 10 university in recent years.

In total 67 students (66% of the cohort) moved on to join 21 of the 24 members of the ‘’ of elite UK universities. Popular Russell Group destinations this year included King’s College London, Bristol, Manchester, and Warwick. 2019 Oxbridge off er holders Outside of G5 and the Russell Group, many students chose to join high ranked institutions such as the Bath, St Andrews and Loughborough. 8 of our A Level students also progressed to medicine this year.

A Level students also achieved a couple of notable ‘fi rsts’ this year; the fi rst Abbey Cambridge student to read Medicine at the , and the fi rst 2 students to study at the world-renowned Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London.

International Foundation Programme Highlights

GUARDIAN LEAGUE TABLE QS TOP UNIVERSITIES

The last few years has seen increasing recognition of our Foundation Programme by high ranking UK universities. In 2019 this trend continued, with 41% of foundation students joining a Russell Group university.

This year’s most popular destination for our Business Foundation pathway students was City, , with 16 students joining it’s triple-crown accredited Cass Business School. Other destinations for business students this year included Bath, Exeter, King’s College London, Edinburgh, Durham, Manchester and York.

All of this year’s Foundation Engineering students gained places at either the University of Leeds, Bristol, or Queen Mary (all Russell Group members). Science pathway destinations included King’s, Queen Mary, Durham and Bristol, for courses including neuroscience, biomedical science, psychology, nutrition and pharmacology.

2019 has also seen the second year of graduates from our specialist Medicine Foundation pathway. Students from this pathway gained places to study medicine at Aston University, Trakia University, and the University of Belgrade.
