Dec.1800, had a strike of barley from the Bradmore Constable, and William Oliver had 7/6 for repairing William Hellott’s chimney plus 1/- for lime. 12.1.1801 William Helliot had 8 yards of cloth for sheets at 1/2 per yard, total 9/4. 11.11.1801 Constable bought William Helliot a blanket 7/-. Jan.1802 Constable paid William Heliot his expenses £2/5/-, no details, and also 3 weeks pay 7/6, i.e. 2/6 p.wk. Jan.1803 the Constable paid for midwife for Lady Elliott, 5/-, and 2/6 for fetching and carrying her back. Also a ton of coals for Mr Elliott and 3/6 cash. 14.1.1804 William was paid £1/1/- towards rat-catching for the year, and Jan.1807 another £1/11/6 for rat-catching. 1807 William paid the Constable 6/2 for 200 bricks. Jan.1812 William had 5/6 from the Constable for doctor’s medicine, and 11/- later the same month. He had 8/- p.wk., increasing to 9/- in Jan.1813. March 1813 he had rum 1/6, sugar and honey 1/6½d, and a pint of gin 2/-, and in May had 15/- p.wk., followed by 2 weeks’ payments to Mary Elliott. 12.7.1813 the Constable paid £1/4/- towards his funeral expenses. Mary Elliott married to William, 1813 had 15/- p.wk. from Constable. Oct.1813 Constable paid £2 for clothing for Elliotts. Nov.1813 the Constable paid for a frock for Elliott’s boy, not clear which one, and for repairs to the house, £1/1/- for stubble, 4/- for thatch and 10/6 to Attewell and 7/6 to William Cumberland, helping, for 3 days work on thatching, also reeds, 7/6. Dec.1813 Mary Chamberlain was paid for doing washing for Elliott’s boy, and he had stockings 2/-, shirts 6/8 and a frock. Jan.1814 Mary had 9 yards of cotton at 10/6, and an apron 3/-. In 1814 she received 13/- p.wk., and the Constable paid 18/- for house repairs done by John Oliver. March 1814 Mr Goodacre paid the Constable £9/15/- for Elliott’s horse and cart. On electoral roll 1878-1885 in the category £12+ rent pa. 1881 age 48, married to Ann. Farmer of 9½ acres, living on Farmer St. near Rancliffe Farm, 2 cottages,with children Elizabeth, George, William and Thomas and niece Mary Ann Morris, also lodger William Marriott and his wife Sarah Augusta (Bradmore 1881/68). 1881 Kellys Directory, shopkeeper. 1885/6 Whites Directory, cottager and shopkeeper. Electoral roll with land & tenement 1886-1907, then house 1908-1909. 1888 Kellys Directory, shopkeeper and miller (corn). This is last known reference to John as miller, and he was the last miller at the mill at the top of Far St. Ron Draycott (grandson) has recollection of his mother mentioning Alliott’s mill somewhere along the road to Ruddington – was this the 3rd mill? 1890 and the years around, Sunday School accounts entries for Elliot’s and Mrs Elliot’s bills in connection with anniversary. 1891 age 58, agricultural cottager married to Ann, children John, Elizabeth, George and Sarah, living at the top end of Main St., possibly Home Farm (Bradmore 1891/8). 1894 Whites Directory, cottager and shopkeeper. 1895 Kellys Directory, shopkeeper. 1895 had a ton of coals from the Charities. 1900 Bunny Estate Rental has John Elliott with cottage and land, 9 acres 2 rods 8 perches, paying £25/6/0 rent pa. 1901 age 69 farmer, grocer working on own account, married to Ann with children Thomas and Sarah A in a house of more than 4 rooms on Village (Main) St (Bradmore 25/1901). 1908 Bunny Estate rental paying £3 pa rent; his acreage seems to have passed to L S Hutchinson. A recommendation for 3 or 6 weeks was bought by Bunny & Bradmore Charities for him. 1891 age 26, in his father’s house (Bradmore 1891/8). 1892 £2 donation granted by the Charities to John Elliott on account of illness. 1893 and 1894 received £2 each year from the Charities, in 1894 specifying John Elliott Junior. 1901 age 36, single, crippled with rheumatism, living with (step-) grandfather William Whittaker age 80 (Bradmore 38/1901). Remembered by grandson Ron Draycott as tall, well-built, as were all her children. In her widowhood she lived in Bunny almshouses. She was scared of thunderstorms and Ron aged 5 was sent to sleep with her during them. Remembered as a forbidding character. Was photographed standing outside her shop at Bradmore – photograph now lost. 1911 age 62, wife (should be widow) (married 40 years (1871) with 5 children), 4-room house (Bradmore 38/1911). Possibly the Edward Elliott in the Constables Accounts 1845, expenses of 3 witnesses examined about his settlement, 4/9, and 3/- for journeys, followed by 3/- expenses for his examination and 8/6 for a journey for fetching him. Sam Bennet’s expenses 4/6, John Barker’s 3/-, and in 1846 Ann Holland’s expenses for a journey to Nottingham to be examined about Edward’s settlement, 1/6. 1904. Mr England appears with his wife and son and ‘3 other Bradmore natives’ on a photograph of c1910 where he is described as the last keeper on the Bunny estate. Lived at Keepers Cottage on the Wysall Lane bordering the east side of Bunny Park, in Bunny parish. Mrs England and son included in photograph of family group, and also separately photographed at Keepers Cottage, probably c1910. Ronald A England son of William A, admitted to Bunny School 6.4.1904.
